I'm sure things will change as we find out who the buyers and sellers are this offseason, but at this point, this is what I would do.

1) Trade Randy Arozarena for Luis Arraez (4.3 K% this season with a .316 BA) + prospect or RP (San Diego has several second basemen and Profar is a FA)

2) Trade Luis Castillo and Mitch Haniger for Triston Casas (126 wRC+ in his first 800 PA) (I could see the Red Sox getting a guy like Pete Alonso to fill the vacancy this creates)
https://youtu.be/eXhhrK1OOBY (this 3 HR game was from 3 days ago)

3) Trade whatever prospects it takes (besides Laz Montes) for Brent Rooker.

Lineup:

RF- Robles
2B- Arraez
DH- Rooker
CF- Julio
C- Raleigh
LF- Raley
1B- Casas
SS- Crawford
3B- Moore

Bench: Bliss/Garver/Backup OF that never gets to play (I have no problem with Garver as strictly a backup C. Better than someone like Zeby Savala who never had a bat to begin with..)

Rotation:

Logan
Kirby
Woo
Miller
Hancock

Payroll goes down significantly.

Offense goes up significantly.
1st, great plan.

But I just do not think any of the trades get done. Oakland has their MVP bat Rooker, and the maturation of Bleday, Butlet, S. Langeliers, Tyler S., Gelof, and they have a couple of starters that showed some promise along with a couple of bullets in the pen. Their young SS may be the best prospect in the game:
.433 .474 .668 1.142 across AA/AAA Jacob Wilson Age 22

I think Oakland think they are on the ascent and that last series did nothing to dissuade them. I don't think Rooker is acquirable for any package that makes for a logical choice in Mariner land.

Randy for Luis. I really wish we could have done a prospect swap for him before the Padres did. That said, he has some issues in the field and he does not have the power to be a 1B/DH type. He is like a slow cripple Ichiro. I'd do a prospect package for him because Robles at leadoff could use a Carnie Landsford @ #2. But I don't think the Padres ignore the fact that once they got him they started winning.

Casas: This one might be doable but they wouldn't want the salary stuff. They would want Miller-Woo-Gilbert or Kirby.

And here is and additional problem.
You traded Randy so now Raley can take one of the OF positions but:

Rooker is a DH who you could probably tell to go stand in LF or 1B
Casas has only been a 1B, so 1B/DH
Luis has mainly played DH this year and has had leg issues

I am sorry to be the poo-poo guy but Rooker is not available. I am on the record on going 3-4-5- top 100/ top 100 adjacent types to get him, but I think even those get turned down. So it is give us Woo, Robles, Montez, Taylor, Evans, and Sloan. That trade makes the M's worse, not better.

The M's as presently constructed under Dan and Edgar are a playoff team:
Since the switch check this sh!t out:
Julio .319 .373 .563 168 WRC+
Robles .416 .489 .558 208 WRC+
Raley .272 .348 .568 162 WRC+

After the switch the M's have a 125 WRC+ #4 behind 129 WRC+ LAD. The only players the M's are losing (probably)
JT 148 WRC+
Urias 234 WRC+ in 14 PAs ( He is at like a 90-something for the season)
( Cal, Randy and Dilly are between 116 and 127 WRC+ during the present regime)

The team has a 126 WRC+ since Dan and Edgar have taken the reigns. That is tied for #3 in baseball trailing LAD 129, and Arizona 128 during that period.

What I'd like to see is 1 absolute upgrade via trade FA @ 1B, 3B, 2B, DH. If we could to do 2 even better. I's also like to get a power LHBP guy.
Your posts are so hard to follow man.

What does improved hitting from players when Edgar took over have to do with anything regarding this offseason plan?

"I am on record going 3-4-5 top 100 prospects/adjacent types to get him." Is that supposed to mean something? Who are you and why does what you think matter so much that it's "on record?" And then you just blindly say that a trade for Rooker would take Woo, Robles, Taylor, Evans and Sloan? On MLBTV that is literally an overpay of about $50 million in Woo and Robles alone. So that's just insane.

You then go and make the most vague statement ever that you'd like an upgrade at 1B, 3B, 2B, DH when the original post literally offers proposals for all those positions...

The post starts with: "Great plan" the middle is, "I don't agree with any of it" then ends with, "I want to do exactly what you've proposed..." while offering 0 alternatives...
I partially agree with your observations. I just am not feeling very much at all any expectation of moves being made for needle movers: They will not target Soto. Every team except the 2-5 teams with the worst records thinks they are "in" the playoff hunt. So there is just not any obvious "needle movers" that are realistic and available.

I am sorry if my posts reflect that negative outlook. I try not to be a bummer in person or online.
