Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
They have Cabby being about equal to Kepler and Hancock being equal to Polanco.
Probably is just looking at Cabby's WAR which is all most all Defense and doesn't take into account how terrible of a hitter he was during the Summer months. Also probably assumes Hancock is going to be completely healthy and durable going forward. Twins would have issues with the fact he was shut down mid season but the might do it if his physical checks out. I would think Hancock for Kepler is the most likely trade.

I think you guys are starved for hitting, Kepler seems okay but certainly nothing special. From a twins blog July last season. It's actually defending him, guess he isn't very popular there

I'm not paying a lot for one season of a seventh hole hitterWhat I expect from Kepler is exactly what he was producing last year prior to the toe injury- .244/.344/.390 with good defense in right field. He’s shown the ability to be a little better than that, but as is, that is a three WAR player, and the sort of production any team should be happy to pencil in from their seventh or eighth best hitter. Look at any team (besides the Braves) and tell me how good their seven-hole hitters

He then put up a .840 OPS July, 1.008 August OPS, and followed with an .851 OPS September.

Okay, let's mark it down. I will bet you next season he puts up typical Kepler numbers beginning of next season

Isn't that it turns on? Predicting the sort of player he is going to be next season?
I don't think they are trading them for Hancock and cabbie either, that be too be a coincidence. But if they are traded that's the sort of package I think they get.
So what's your package, who are you trading for them?

Idk Donn, seeing as I always provide trade proposals... and you simply just react to everyone else's ideas...Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 6:46 pmIsn't that it turns on? Predicting the sort of player he is going to be next season?

I'm not sure you're worthy of my time there.

Don't bother then, you have already given me time with your replies. Just curious about trying to pin down how you viewed value. Hancock has some question marks but he also has pluses, like actually making it to the MLs.

Come up with an original idea or proposal on this board for once in your life and I'll give you my trade proposal when you request it.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 6:57 pmDon't bother then, you have already given me time with your replies. Sododopo says we have 7 quality starters.
Hancock and Marco both missed most of the season and Marco put up -0.4 WAR and Hancock pitched 12 innings with a 4.50 ERA.

When it comes to young pitching, the Mariners have an embarrassment of riches. They effectively have seven quality starters, and while the adage you can never have enough pitching rings true, there is a case for Jerry Dipoto to double down in the pitching market with Yoshi Yamamoto.
