Dipoto said before FA began the team wasn't going to be spending, other than for a a BP arm, not sure where the expectations came from...holding out for Trevor Bauer?

He also said they were going to complete for the playoffs so he is an idiot or a liar. There is not a soul on the planet with and IQ higher than a fern that ever thought they would sign Bauer.

yeah, so his saying he expects to compete for the playoffs means they are going to go after Bauer?...

No, it means they are going to acquire better players than Flexen, Montero and Middleton who have combined to put up a grand total of 0.2 WAR in their entire careers. He still has about two months to do so but not holding my breath.

they were in competition for the playoffs this last season and they very well could be next, you can complain about it but i don't see anything that makes him a liar, he said he was going to go after bp arms and that is what he has done...saying he expects to compete for the playoffs means nothing, he didn't say anything about competing for a WS

Sure it like saying I am going to prepare for next year's Boston marathon and then do it by taking my Dogs for a 10 minute walk to the beach every day. I will have just as much chance to qualify as they do to make the playoffs without more significant moves. We currently project for 71 wins and Montero, Middleton and Flexen project for 1.8 WAR combined.

that's fine, but i don't see where it makes him a liar, he is doing what he is saying he was going to do, go after relievers. Whether it keeps them completive for the playoffs remains to be seen. He didn't say make the playoffs, he sure as heck didn't bring uo the WS

FYI

Several Ferns did indeed suggest that Bauer should be in our rotation including Linda’s husband :)

Just sayin.......
