Not to mention that if everyone is saying that Sloan looks like he's going to be a perennial All-Star, you owe it to yourself to find out if that's the case instead of trading him for someone who isn't a sure thing as far as performing at a high level for the next few years.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 8:39 pmThat would be the worst trade in the Jerry era and that's saying something.....Like you said we don't need Duran and he has been sucking this season. Both Laz and Felnin are also worth massively more than Chapman give his age and salary and the fact he is a reliever. Not saying we shouldn't target Chapman but Jerry doesn't spend money on relievers and we could get him for a mid prospect like Luke Stevenson instead.

Re: Kade vs. Sloan
Your not gonna know that for probably the next 2 years. Again I agree with you don't trade that kind of young quality talent. Here's the thing. These guys are gonna be up for FA in thw next couple years. Who stays who goes. You can't have 6 guys in the rotation. Somebody's gotta move. Better it be early than too late.

I agree with DT on most everything except Duran has been really good the last 30 days.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 8:39 pmThat would be the worst trade in the Jerry era and that's saying something.....Like you said we don't need Duran and he has been sucking this season. Re: Kade vs. Sloan
Laz is worth $23M, Felnin $17M and Luke $12M. Would have to over pay a bit. Can't just offer a prospect that is worth $3M like Chia Shi Shen. Yes that is really a prospect of ours. LOL

The expectation is that Sloan debuts late summer. Seems crazy to me but Jude posted this yesterday:HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 10:06 pmYour not gonna know that for probably the next 2 years. This makes me wonder if they'll trade a starter at the deadline, like Kirby maybe. A couple weeks ago I thought Miller might be the move, but Kirby seems more like the odd man out at this point.D-train wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 10:18 pmThe expectation is that Sloan debuts late summer. If you traded Kirby (or Miller) to a contender at the deadline, what could you get back?
Re: Kade vs. Sloan
That is what nobody considers. Why would a contender trade us an impact MLB bat? There are almost never trades like that. Contenders usually only want to give up prospects or they are just robbing Peter to pay Paul.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 11:20 pmThis makes me wonder if they'll trade a starter at the deadline, like Kirby maybe. Re: Kade vs. Sloan
Food for thought...
I kind of like the centipede. High likelihood that the one game the two starters share every five days gives the bullpen extra rest. Also, odds are that a starting pitcher gets injured at some point and we revert to the five man rotation...
Wondering if the team is thinking of adding kade/Sloan to the pen near the end of the season for the playoffs. Get rid of two worst performers in the pen, add talent, and allow kade/Sloan to gain limited time in the show and playoff experience....
