Dan Duquette on Dipotos management style. I didn't bother to watch the entire thing. He seems to reinforce the opinion of dipotos overbearing style. The one thing I found interesting, some of the things you guys find most annoying about Wilson could be a function of working for dipoto. Duquette brings up his awful press conferences. The only word he's allowed to use is tough

Terms of comparing Allen to Stanton, a big part of their images could be a function of how their respective teams communicated. Allen's with Pete, JS and now MM have always been great at it, fans love those guys. The mariners have been terrible at it. Losing is rough but stonewalling it makes things worse

Also the stuff about his experience with mike scioscia. How that has probably influenced his relationships with managers. Seems to me dipoto is in a tough spot. I don't think he wants have look for a Wilson replacement. How does he go about it? He keeps using this same model? Another rookie from within the organization? Would they possibly try to keep Wilson? That seems unlikely. Doesn't seem to me there's an easy answer and dipoto really needs to get it right. Like MM replacing Grubb. Dipoto isn't getting anymore slack. The next neck could in fact be his

This also speaks to possible reasons dipoto loses his job. It's not going to be because of this season or only two playoffs in 14 years. But It could be about a stifling work environment. If Stanton grows tired of how he might be handling HR.

I watched it too and thought it was pretty interesting. It seemed like Duquette was being cautious with his words, but it fits with what we've heard about his relationship with Sciosia. I would also guess that he and Servais probably had a fairly strong relationship and that's why Scott was here so long.

btw you "what has gone wrong with the season post has about 50 likes and counting on X"
And I forgot to mention Jo Adell's three home run robbery game. To the best of my knowledge nobody in the history of MLB had even robbed two in one game. And it happened to this team in this season. You can't make this shit up.
Wednesday was "Jo Adell HR Robbery Bobblehead Night" at Angels Stadium. I turned down the bobblehead offer; my nephew claimed two but left the bobbleheads under his seat.
And Adell plays for the Indians now. Good to see another organization doing something clowny.

I'm thinking of the Kraken and Ron Francis. The philosophy there was that you get one free coach firing, but once you fire a second coach it becomes apparent that you're the problem, and sure enough, with firing #2 Francis was "reassigned" and later he resigned.

espn handicap article on possible manager openings...It could be they delay filling it. If theres a lockout, no reason paying a manager if there aren't going to be games to manage
Seattle Mariners
Seattle's odds for making the playoffs stand at 1.9%, and with the team nearing the end of what has been a wildly disappointing season, there are a lot of industry tremors that suggest major change is possible at the top of the front office. It'll be up to Mariners owner John Stanton, who is generally viewed more as patient than reactionary. Jerry Dipoto has been the Mariners' head of baseball operations for 11 seasons, and in that time, they have reached the postseason twice, advancing to the American League Championship Series just last fall.

It's also regarded as a fait accompli that, barring a crazy run to the postseason, Dan Wilson's tenure as Seattle's manager will end. If ownership decides to fire Dipoto, his job will immediately become one of the most coveted in the industry -- and largely because of Dipoto's work.

The Mariners seemingly have a core of strong pitching, with Bryan Woo, Logan Gilbert and rookie Kade Anderson, and stars under contract, such as Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh. They also play in what might be the softest division in the majors, with no powerhouse clubs in the AL West.

Dipoto's in a tough spot because HE should be looking for a new job, not a new manager.

What if there isn't a lockout. Then you are caught with your pants down scrambling to find one....

What I highlighted in red is a complete crock of horseshit.
