I am praying Arroyo can play 3B because Cole has 2B locked in now.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 4:38 amSomebody's gotta take that left side of the infield. Which one is gonna make the switch. It's like a logjam of infielders. We just need a couple of those guys to take the next step. Definitely cut down on that strikeouts. We need contact from the SS & hopefully some power from the 3B.

Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
Tai Peete is still pretty young. He turns 20 on August 11. He's showing some power, which is encouraging. But the K-Rate is at about 30%, which is way too high. That makes him essentially a second-tier prospect. He's interesting. There's some potential there. But right now he's a work in progress.
Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
He isn't going to play an entire season in High A and then get demoted to Low. That literally never happens.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 4:57 pmHe's not a 5 tool unless his hit tool continues to progress. He's a bit raw and was always a bit more of a long project. His K rate is sitting at 30 % in Low A, but he's been better over the last 3 weeks. He may need to start next season in Modesto. Hopefully he continues to improve.Vogelbomb wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 3:01 pmOur system also has Jonny Farmelo who brings the speed and power, but Peete is the guy that kinda flies under the radar as he hasn't yet posted an eye-popping OPS
Peete is a true 5-tool guy. You often hear "so-and-so is a 5-tool superstar" and yet that player offers a below-average glove or below-average arm. That isn't the case for Peete. He threw mid 90s from the mound. Has a big-time arm, accurate, too. He also has the speed. He's showing a good glove in CF and now he also is showing the power at the plate with 16 bombs this season. If he can continue to progress as a hitter to develop into a .290-310 type of bat (should rack up plenty of infield hits with his speed), while being a 30-30 guy. Holy smokes!
I like Peete's athleticsim. It's hard not to. Going to continue to root hard for him

It is a work in progress and no one can say he reaches his sky high potential or is a future Door Dasher.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 5:59 pmHopefully he does develop, but a .733 OPS in the minors isnt encouraging. I mistakenly thought he was in Modesto. He needs to stay where he’s at to start next season imo though, although I suspect they will bump him upD-train wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 9:31 pmHe isn't going to play an entire season in High A and then get demoted to Low. That’s where Farmelo is too, but with much fewer AB, and much better results when he does make contact. I do think Peete has had enough progress to be encouraged though. Probably doing about as well as we could hope at this pointGL_Storm wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 9:24 pmTai Peete is still pretty young. He turns 20 on August 11. Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
Sure. He's a young guy with athletic talent working on his game, trying to get better. They have at least one more year before they need to roster him, so it's fine. Hopefully, he does some work over the offseason and uplevels his bat. We'll see.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 05, 2025 12:12 amThat’s where Farmelo is too, but with much fewer AB, and much better results when he does make contact. That is what I thought. I agree he won't get promoted to Ark until he gets the K rate down to 25%Juliooooo wrote: ↑Tue Aug 05, 2025 12:10 amI mistakenly thought he was in Modesto. Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
Exactly. Turns 20 in August. He'll could return to Everett for a couple of months next year before heading up to a AA in June. Really hope he works on his swing decisions/contact ability in the offseason. He has been slowly getting better.
Re: 2025 Prospects Thread
Interesting that you think he's locked it in. I mean he's been really good and you can see him ascending after a dynamite July. But I still think he and Arroyo will go to camp next year (Bliss too) and they'll assess, winner take the spot. I would hope each gets a fair shot and there's no inherent bias. We'll see. Maybe I'm naive. Maybe Young will come in as the frontrunner. Will be interesting to see if JP gets shopped in the offseason. I really think they should. His defense is seriously falling off a cliff.D-train wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 9:01 pmI am praying Arroyo can play 3B because Cole has 2B locked in now.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 4:38 amSomebody's gotta take that left side of the infield.
