Julio is now hitting worse than Rowdy Tellez...

You wonder if mechanics and being a mental midget are just going to be a thing with him always.

With all the natural tools he has I find it unacceptable for his inconsistent performance. Even with his apparently wonderful personality I have to wonder if he's truly coachable hitting wise. He seems always off balance and like a mediocre golfer he doesn't "cover the pitch" with his upper body but pulls out of the swing.

So far he is 2-2 tonight and now in May he is at .294/.368/.647 for a 1.015 OPS.

So, I'm not going to pretend to understand every baseball stat there is, but how is his Batting Average higher than his Batting Average on Balls in Play? Not only higher, but .081 higher?

If he had a really hot start like Dylan Moore and then cooled off would we be even having this conversation right now?

He's a streaky player, if he could be consistent he would be a MVP candidate.

That makes about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine!

Its intended to gauge how much the defense is affecting the hitter. Its used as an indicator of how "lucky" or "unlucky" a hitter is. I don't by that though because if you hit nothing but line drives you are going to have a higher BABip than someone who hits a lot of popups or ground balls. That is skill not luck.
