well, I'm going to be quite disappointed if Evans isn't allowed to open the 6th. 5-run lead. Why ask for 4 innings from your pen when your starter can cover one more?

Oh I know why, because you have 8 arms in the pen and they're getting restless for lack of use

Was going to say I am glad Speier relieved Snider but then Speier immediately gives up a single. However, he gets out of it with no harm done.

The Mariners talk out of both sides of their mouth:

First, we hear them say "we want to get more innings from our starters"

Then you get situations like today where they hook a SP at 78p. with a 7-2 lead after 5 IP. They instead ask for 4 IP from the pen instead of, say, 3 if Evans covers the 6th.

I throw up my hands. And then they complain about a taxed bullpen! You can't have it both ways Dan! You can't whine about having to use your pen to cover more innings than you want AND hook starters who can reasonably give you more innings!!! WTF are we doing here?

I don't care about your 8 man pen, having fresh arms and off days. This is exactly how you get a tired pen in the first place. And maybe just maybe it shows you that you don't need a fucking 8-man pen?!! Especially with the optioning. Go down to 7 and stop forcing relievers into games in spots you don't need to.

OK, end rant

I wonder if Julio could have made it home on Polanco's double. Wish we would've got a replay of that of the whole field. Wanted Polanco to get another RBI
I agree they should have sent him.
