We still have Williamson to play Gold Glove level defense and hit a little bit to play 3b.
I'm not counting on that and I hope they are not either.
Then why take him in the second round, you can't argue he hasn't met expectations.
It is irrelevant where they take him. He is almost 25 yo and is OPSing barely over .600 in the most hitter friendly league on planet Earth. That is a league in which Leo freaking Rivas is OPSing .961. Samad Taylor .899 Leody Tavaras .831

It's not irrelevant at all, you're acting like he morphed into a different player than the one they drafted. This is who they drafted. They promoted him to the majors where he had success. If this isn't what they anticipated then why take him in the second round

I honestly don't know how you can watch BW hit a baseball and think he is going to be a viable MLB starting 3B.

He was so successful they traded for a rental to replace him and demoted him.

It's not to do with what I think, I'm talking about what they think. This is the guy they used a second round pick on. It's not like they promoted him to the majors and he forgot how to hit. They drafted him, promoted him where he performed pretty much as he would be expected didn't he? But they aren't going to have any expectations for him

When the drafted him they obviously thought he would develop power and he as 4 HRs in almost 1000 PAs. Not a horrible 2nd rounder relative to the other trash cans they drafted there aka Joe Rizzo and Josh Stowers but another dud. He would have value if he could BU SS but he has barely played there.

He put up 1.3 war in 277 at bats, is that failure?

They promoted him because Polanco was an epic fail at 3B. If they had signed a real viable 3B in the off season we wouldn't be talking about another failed 2nd rounder. He is a good kid. I am criticizing them not him.
