We are so screwed. This is supposed to be a fun time of the off season full of possibilities but it is close to hopeless because we have a POS owner that gets his rocks off looking at his financial statements. And that is really all it is too. He is a billionaire. Doesn't change his life in the least if the M's make 1 dollar or 100 million. Not like he is going to take a better vacation or buy a nicer car. Just gets to show his buddies how much money he made them and they can all pat him on the back and tell him how great he is.

I’ll probably always be a Mariner fan………This isn’t fun anymore

So riddle me this. If they are so amazing at pulling relievers out of their asses and they are a dime a dozen, whey didn't they DFA one of the 13 of them on the 40 man roster instead of the one Good DH we had on the roster.
It is mind boggling some of the decisions they make.
Ford at T-mobile: .258 .353 .472 .825
Road .208 .302 .477 .779
June .765
July .895
Aug. .746
Sept./Oct .726

To me a guy with a 10% walk rate and a .200 to .250 ISO is a bat to keep.

Watching Urias highlights I'm starting to think that Geno is a gonner.
I'm predicting either a trade with Toronto who wants Geno or a Jeimer Candelario acquisition.
I think a Geno trade would be good news even if you just get a #5 starter as trade depth in return.

Not much drop off from Geno to Dylan Moore (or Urias) at 3B, if any.
But we don't need a number 5 starter. We have Hancock, Marco and the current 5 of
Castillo-Kirby-Gilbert-Woo-Miller
And then we get Ray back at some point in 2024.

BJs could send back someone like:
BJ prospect ranking
#7 Alan Roden OF,.317 .430 .459 .889 115 games up to AA in 2023 (2.2M trade calc.)
#6 Leo Jiminez 2B/SS (8.9M trade calc.) .270 .366 .401 .767 AA/AAA he did not hit well in AAA but had an .808 OPS in AA
#5 Addison Barger SS (8.9M trade calc.) .250 .353 .403 .756 88 games in AAA but in 2022 he had a .933 OPS going from A+-->AA-->(AAA 8 games of 1.100 OPS )

With the M's loaded system and one of the top 5/6/7 of Toronto's system we could then trade for a really good corner outfielder. Hell maybe you go get Luis Robert Jr.

Having the additional SP depth allows them to make the trades for offense that they need to make without leaving them short on pitching.

I don't really care who they'd get in return for Geno, but the additional SP depth facilitates trading the young pitching for bats.

The depth you mention sounds nice, but Hancock, Ray and Marco are/were all injured. I'm not sure if we on them at all personally, haven't heard about their progress.

If Miller got traded tomorrow, I don't know who would be our #5 going into the season.

I'd prefer they trade two arms for two bats if they don't sign bats in FA, so depth is essential imo, if that's the course they have to take.

Marco and Hancock are supposed to be ready by ST but we all know how that goes. It is always later than expected an NEVER earlier. I will be mildly surprised if RR is back at all next season, shocked if he gets more than a handful of starts at the end of the season.

How about this trade. lol

Richards pitched very well in his 3 starts last season. Melted down the last month or so but was very good prior. Could be a 5 starter. Has 59 career starts.

btw Schneider had an amazing start to his MLB career. Basically what we were sold that JK was going to do.

Over a 1.000 OPS and 1.8 WAR in only 35 games....

Cody Bellinger version of Pitching implosion. Crazy to go from a 2.24 ERA to a 5.87 ERA age 24 to 25.

Lot of interesting issues with Alek Manoah, he seems to have been fighting with the Jay's over conditioning issues, refused a minor league assignment. He is also one of the slowest workers in baseball, the pitch clock could have affected him. Figure he's probably like a tightly wound type. If the mariners felt they could get along with him
