Re: 2020-2021 Hot Stove Thread
Letting Soria and Colome get away for peanuts. Ok now I'm officially pissed and firmly believe they have zero intention of going for it this season. God fucking dammit!! You cheap fucks!!

$6mil on a closer and they would have had to sweeten the deal?
Re: 2020-2021 Hot Stove Thread
That's about what they paid their fake closer Zipchinski.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 2:04 am$6mil on a closer and they would have had to sweeten the deal?
Can't shell it out now for a player that has actually earned it?
I'm not a fan of $7M long relievers, but when the actual closers with success are signing for that, I'd be making an effort to solidify the pen personally.

Not that he isn't worth it but that the Ms would shell out that kind of dough this season for one. Montero is the closer isn't he? Didn't they check that box?
Re: 2020-2021 Hot Stove Thread
Yeah they checked it with a 0.0 bWAR "closer" just like they checked it with Hirano and Shaw last season and missed the playoffs by two games. One of which was due to blowing a 4 run lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the bottom of the 9th. If you scroll down to the win probability graph we had a 100% chance to win that game just before Williams hit Hedges.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 4:14 amNot that he isn't worth it but that the Ms would shell out that kind of dough this season for one. I am mot defending it, but yeah they seemed to have checked it. Can't imagine them dropping $6 mil on another closer.
Re: 2020-2021 Hot Stove Thread
Montero would just move to high leverage set up man and the entire pen gets better but they obviously aren't interested in getting better. Is what it is.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 1:34 pmI am mot defending it, but yeah they seemed to have checked it. Can't imagine them dropping $6 mil on another closer.

Sure, they are going to add some pieces one would imagine, $6 mil on a closer?...maybe $6 mil on a corner outfielder
Re: 2020-2021 Hot Stove Thread
You think $6M is a lot for a closer? We wasted almost $10M a year on that clown Nicasio to be a set up man.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 1:49 pmSure, they are going to add some pieces one would imagine, $6 mil on a closer?...maybe $6 mil on a corner outfielder
