I'm questioning the Spencer Torkelson comparison to JK. Haven't looked at him closely but I don't think he's struggled to that extent. I did look at his getting taken number one. He was termed to have, generational power, a 70 rating. It's what got him number one, I don't think there was much defense involved. But now he's toast.

I literally posted their stats. Tork has had a slightly better career in terms of hitting but was actually worse in 2024. JK has him in WAR because he is a OFer vs. a 1B. Tork has negative career WAR.

Off topic. The obsession with tipping is insane. Does the guy stare at his bank balance online the next morning just thrilled that he has an extra $2 in his account. Must be related to Stanton.

His career right now mirrors Ryon Healy's, who had a nice rookie season for the A'ss, regressed in his second season, and then sucked for us.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 6:26 pmI'm questioning the Spencer Torkelson comparison to JK. That's not to say the same thing will happen with Torkelson, but that's where he's trending. His bad WAR is a result of horrible defensive metrics so he's worthy of a chance at being an everyday player, but it's hard to justify giving up value for him at this time.

lol My two cents - you don't tip on tax - this has been well known forever. Restaurants know this also and their suggested tips based off tax is stupid. Almost as stupid as places now trying to say if you don't tip 25% don't bother coming in. Service 7 times out of 10 now sucks, why would you tip 20-25% for that? Also, if they put a surcharge of 3-4% on the bill to cover employee healthcare - well that is deducted from the tip. It doesn't matter how much it saves me at the end of the day/year - its the principle of it - you want a good tip - give me good food/service.

I don't think a soul on earth thinks you should tip on the tax but I can't imagine making that precise of a calculation. If the total bill is $100 I will just tip $20 for good service. I am not going exclude the tax and tip $18 to save two measly dollars. If the total bill is $110. I will still tip $20.
The bigger issue is why is the tip bigger if they serve a steak and lobster vs. Hamburger and fries at the same restaurant. That is a massive difference even though that waiter performed precisely the same service they would get about $20 for the former and $5 for the later. Make that make sense.

In San Francisco I believe there's a special tax at restaurants only that goes to paying for employee healthcare.Lamda wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:21 pmlol My two cents - you don't tip on tax - this has been well known forever. Yup - most just add it onto the overall prices but some don't - Melting Pot for example doesn't - they add I think a 4% surcharge and said a while back that it was to pay the mandated healthcare. That means the best tip they can get from me is 16%. A lot of restaurants just automatically charge you 20% now for tip/service and say some of it goes to the server but some goes to the restaurant as well.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 11:55 pmIn San Francisco I believe there's a special tax at restaurants only that goes to paying for employee healthcare.Lamda wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 9:21 pmlol My two cents - you don't tip on tax - this has been well known forever. These automatic tips are outright theft! I see few over here.
