Obviously Geno will improve the lineup. And if he played today maybe the Mariners get one more homerun during the game and it's tied, at least.
But... If you hated this game where the only way the Mariners could score was by scattering a few homeruns, I think this is what we'll keep getting. He's a hr/k guy that will be frustrating as hell 78% of the time.
I don't think there was any better option out there (why they need to do this shit in the offseason ffs), but I think we just added another boom or bust Mariner hitter.

It's too bad JP started so hot, because what we really need is a legit leadoff hitter. But we're stuck with him again.
I'm hoping Geno can fix whatever the fuck has crawled up and spoiled this clubhouse of late.

They look like they don't even want to be out there.

Tough loss.
Woo hasn't been sharp lately.
Offense came too late.
Puts us 5 back of Houston.

Deadline is not over.
Would love to get one more mid to high leverage arm.
Hoping for Jax & Fairbanks. Would love to pry Kwan away from Cleveland. Gotta give what you got. Definite leadoff material. Now if he could only play SS. Somebody's gotta come up. I don't care who. Rivas or Taylor give one of them a crack at it. What worse could you do.

Agreed. Maybe he can wake these dopes up.

As absolutely own Woo. Now tied for final wc spot with that dangerous pitchinf opponent coming to us. We need to take 3 of 4 at least. We got 2 big rental bats and now dont have anyone on the roster to play first next year so. Hopefully this works out!!! Horrible series got much needed offense. Genos hand better be ok double check just to make sure.

So we trade Suarez away with multiple years left on his contract for Seby Zavala and Carlos Vargas, then a year and a half later trade away 3 prospects that each probably have more value than those two combined in order to get him back for two months.

Oh to be a Mariners fan...
You envisioned Geno, at age 34, posting 36 homer before August and being on pace for his best year since 2019... after he was a 103 OPS+/.714 OPS hitter in '23, leading the league in K's with 214?

Yeah... he's been one of the best hitters in baseball and reinvigorated his career...

I don't really get this talking point.
They failed to accurately assess what he had left in the tank. Any team that wasn't owned by a bunch of cheap-ass motherfuckers would have kept him or held out for better return in a trade.

Hunter Cranton and Juan Burgos are the pitchers in the deal.

The deal is a fleece by the M's of epic proportions compared to what Arizona was reportedly after.

Great trade for the M's.

It's close to what I predicted last week. I said a fringe top-10 prospect and a couple guys 15-30. Was pretty much exactly that.

They were mad because he came to camp that year out of shape and he turned up a mediocre year.

Nobody thought a 34 YO Geno was going to be the best hitting 3B in baseball 2 years later.

And what they traded to get him is miniscule in the grand scheme.

A's announcers believe they are trying to limit his wear and tear.

Why overwork him in a season that's dead?
