Cal possible 1st baseman in a few years

Thoughts? Ford moves up, our issue with 1st baseman is gone and by then the rest of the infield is remarkably better.

Cal won a platinum glove as the best defensive catcher in MLB this past season and we move him to first base, okay

If he can become a better hitter it could work.

The way he's hit so far in his career though, it would be a code brown.

Agreed. Makes no sense. If you play him 105x you play him 105x behind the plate. So be it. His bat isn't good enough right now and 90 percent of his value is catching

If you switched him to 1B Cal would drop to like a 2.5-3.0 WAR player with the positional adjustment.

His bat is elite at catcher where he was 2nd in baseball in WRC+ Put him at 1B and he is slightly above average at a 12th in baseball. Maybe his bat improves a bit without the stress of catching but he is quickly approaching his 30's so its not likely to take any large leaps.
