OT - Favorite heads up plays worth seeing over and over again
OT - Favorite heads up plays worth seeing over and over again
Sometimes players and teams make plays that are so head-ups you just gotta say WTF and see them again to believe them.
Some are hyper-vigilant awareness plays that you must tip your cap to them.
Then there's plays that you just say, WTF, as in how could you be so dumb and/or blind.
What stirred my interest is a minor league game yesterday where bases were loaded and the 3 runners scored on a walk.
Maybe this post could be used by the forum to add their own favorite plays so we can all browse, reminisce, smile, cheer, groan or just say, "WTF".

Another one of my all-time faves is Derek Jeter with one of the most impressive, "hyper-aware, the play is never dead, the ball is always alive"
plays of all time IMHO.

Then, of course, our own Brendan Ryan getting to 3rd base with 2 stolen bases on his own infield single. Love this!

Great and timely response, Darren! Watched it 3 times to make sure I caught all the heads-up, duh, and WTF action. Thanks.
Keeps adding all!

I maintain that the Jeter play was 100% unnecessary. The ball was perfectly on line to the plate and was going to get there in time.

Maybe, but if the throw, on the bounce was more to Posada's right, his catch and spin counterclockwise might have been a more difficult tag play.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:35 pmI tend to agree.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:20 pmI maintain that the Jeter play was 100% unnecessary. We'll never know. Awesome play. Perhaps unnecessary, perhaps not, but good conversation fodder.

This is the series that made me hate Servais. I had never seen a guy get so out coached.
