The Crockies are off to a 4-23 start and they are just beyond atrocious. They can't even hit at Coors Field.

That's a franchise that might never make the postseason again. It's at the point that nobody wants to pitch there, and they can't draw free agent hitters because they know they'll never have pitching and thus no chance of winning.

Surprisingly, with all the bad Mariner teams there have been and with the franchise being the worst in MLB history, our highest loss record is only 104.

That's one thing I think the league did right, eliminating the benefits of tanking.

Just glanced at the Rockies roster. Apparently Kris Bryant is just done for...

And even if they did, there's virtually no benefit to tanking in baseball as the top draft picks are far from a sure thing and they won't contribute for a few years. Tanking works better in football and basketball.

Even with 3 years of tanking, the Asstros still had to dip into the free agent market to field the teams they did.

This just made me think of the Philadelphia 86'ders. They tanked for something like 4-5 years, got all kinds of top draft picks (including Markelle Fultz of the Huskies as a #1 overall pick), and ended up topping off at second-round playoff exits before bottoming out again. So even in other sports tanking is far from a guarantee.

That's true, I always have these day-terrors where I flash back to ending up with Dustin Ackley instead of Stephen Strasburg.

They don't even get the top pick now. No wonder there's a lot of teams that seem to be shooting for 54%.

Most teams have 2/3 of the roster with names I've never heard of.

It seems like careers are ending a lot sooner these days and more young guys are getting called up.

Probably all stems from the elimination of performance enhancing drugs.
