MLB has lifted the Ban on Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson which makes them both eligible for the hall of fame. Presumably the Veterans committee will have to vote them in. Should be interesting to see how this goes and if it will pave the way for the PED boys to make it in eventually.

While I don’t condone Pete for his betting, I think it is BS they waited till he was dead to reinstate.

None of the ped boys are banned. This won't affect them until they die.

Right but if the veterans committee is willing to overlook Betting and put Rose in the Hall, it could indicate that they might also be willing to overlook PED's and Put Bonds and Co in the hall.

Bonds was aHOFer before the alleged PEDs. He is the best hitter I have ever seen.

Sure but if you start with a company right after college and become the CEO 25 years later and then you embezzle millions of dollars. Guessing you're not going to have a portrait of you on the wall of the boardroom after that.

This thread should be headlined "Rose, Jackson and the Black Sox and others reinstated". It wasn't just those two.

So is it legal now for players to bet on the games? I mean, you'll be reinstated when you're dead, right?

Out of everyone that was reinstated, the only one I'm very happy for is Buck Weaver. He probably wasn't as innocent as portrayed in Eight Men Out, but he definitely wasn't in on the fix and was banned only for not snitching. Some of the other Black Sox I empathize with as they were put in a bad spot. Shoeless Joe Jackson may or may not have tanked in the games the Sox lost in the 1919 World Series and he did take the money, but I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Everyone's talking about Rose and Jackson now being eligible for the HOF, but nobody's mentioning Eddie Cicotte and his 59 WAR, which might get him enshrined. He unquestionably threw games though so that hurts his chances.

As for Rose, I'm not happy for him and he's a crappy person who did it to himself. At the very least he didn't live to see this happen.

Which is why he's the one who screwed himself the most. Bonds on 'roids dwarfed even A-Rod on 'roids. It seems like he just didn't and still doesn't care about the Hall Of Fame.

MLB created a path for Rose to follow for reinstatement, Rose wouldn't cooperate. Rose met with Bud selig about i. It was basically to stay clear of any sort of gambling or gambling personalities, supposedly Rose flew straight to Vegas

The veterans committee is no slam dunk, Rose was well liked by fans but I'm not sure how well liked by players, believe johnny Bench doesn't care for him

Bench and Joe Morgan are on record stating that he was rightfully banned.
