For goodness sake Jerry. What are you waiting for? Didn’t you learn a thing from last year? It’s about hitting. Pull the trigger

Look at the players that so far have been picked up, pretty much trash . Guys of real value are going to be held on to until the deadline, other than a few exceptions, and I don't see dipoto doing an exceptional deal. In fact I think he feels they already did a pretty big deal picking up Taveras

Terms of exceptions, I would have to believe the Mark Langston trade was about as aggressive a trade ever made, got us Randy Johnson. Maybe David can come up with some others. He was traded May 25th. That's was pretty amazing, Langston was a premier starter at the time

So far Tavares has been a weak ass fill in for Robles. There’s a reason Texas let him go.

Yeah, but they spent $4 mil on him. I suppose they're going to have to make some kind of deadline deal if for nothing more than public relations. I'm thinking it be along the lines of their Justin Turner, Carlos Santana deals

He brought up Cole Young. What more could fans possibly want?

And when Robles and Raley come back, it'll be like they acquired two impact bats for nothing! SHEER GENIUS

Yeah sadly there just aren't many teams wanting to trade right now - need to wait another month. I think this is why they haven't brought up Ford yet either - they want to trade him as the main piece for a decent bat. With Raleigh here he becomes less important event though we know they could play both 3 times a week and let Cal DH but whatever. Garver is gone at the end of the year so letting Ford get his shot makes sense - but if he comes up then he can't be traded cause if he hits well it won't make any sense and if he doesn't then his trade value plummets.

Brought this commercial to mind...

(MARINERS FRONT OFFICE DISCUSSION)
Dipoto: You know what would he better than a DH that can hit...?
Hollander: What?
Dipoto: A DH that can't necessarily hit, but CAN play multiple positions for when another guy needs a day off...
Hollander: A DH that can't hit, but can play in the field!? BRILLIANT.
Dipoto: You know... what would be better than a first baseman that can hit?
Hollander: What?
Dipoto: A first baseman that can't necessarily hit, but could play an outfield position if needed...
Hollander: A first baseman that can't hit, but has versatility!? BRILLIANT!
Dipoto: You know... our starting second baseman isn't working out, but our backup has a 1.000 OPS... We should replace the starter with a rookie so we have that 1.000 OPS bat off the bench!
Hollander: Replace the failing starter with a 21 year old rookie so we can keep our good bat on the bench to pinch hit!? BRILLIANT!
