Gilbert vs.Rogers G.T. 8/13/25
Gilbert vs.Rogers G.T. 8/13/25
This is the game that I thought would be our toughest challenge of the series. Lets keep the winning streak going. The Mets are up next. The Mets are struggling as of late
, would be a good time to take advantage of their slump.

How in the world did this guy Rogers who's been a bum for most of his career suddenly become a guy with a 1.44 ERA and 0.834 WHIP? And with a low strikeout rate at that, you'd think that pitching to contact at Camden Yards would not be particularly conducive to success, yet he's started three of his ten games at home and only given up a total of one run. Well, that changes today.

This season, Rogers is one of the best turnaround stories in the majors, posting a 1.44 ERA through his first 10 starts. He owns the second best year-over-year ERA improvement (-3.48) among pitchers that threw at least 40 innings last season, and 40 this year. Only Taijuan Walker (-3.57) owns a greater ERA improvement.

It looks like things clicked for him. His fastball and changeup have become real weapons and he seems to not give up home runs. He's only given up 2 home runs this year.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 6:05 pmHow in the world did this guy Rogers who's been a bum for most of his career suddenly become a guy with a 1.44 ERA and 0.834 WHIP? In ten starts that's unheard of these days. Our ace Woo in 23 starts has given up two home runs in a game five times and four in another game.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 6:26 pmIt looks like things clicked for him. Yeah, he pounds so many fastballs in the zone that's bound to happen. I think we'll see that change when he starts using his secondaries to better effect.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 6:32 pmIn ten starts that's unheard of these days. His 3 home starts were against Colorado, Miami and Texas who all have terrible offenses so that helps him a bit.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 6:05 pmHow in the world did this guy Rogers who's been a bum for most of his career suddenly become a guy with a 1.44 ERA and 0.834 WHIP? Gotta be a fluke. He had a 5.51 ERA in the minors this year before they called him up.
