D-Trains Off season plan

Post by D-train » Sat Nov 08, 2025 5:37 pm

Trade Kirby and Peete for Skubal. Tigers get 3 years of a good TOR starter and a high upside OF prospect. M's get a year of the Ace of Aces.

Trade Arroyo for 25 yo Abner Uribe. How cool to have a guy named after the inventor of baseball who is also a lights out reliever. 1.67 ERA, 2.75 FIP and 90Ks in 75 IPs. Brewers get a kid who has absolutely raked his entire minor league career and is very close to his big league debut despite a hiccup late in the season in AA. I would be happy to add more to get this done.

Trade JC and Celesten for Donovan and Joshua Baez, a 22 yo RH OFer that had a .883 OPS in AA last season. Perfect replacement for Randy in 2027. Obviously Donovan would play 2B.

Sign Okamoto to play 1B. 4 x 15M

Line up:
Julio CF
Donovan 2B
Cal C
Randy LF
Okamoto 1B
Canzone DH
Raley/Robles RF
JP SS
Williamson 3B pray his late summer swing change and power is real or bring up Emerson if not

Bench
Raley
Robles
Rivas
Ford

Rotation
Skubal
Woo
Gilbert
Castillo
Miller

Pen
Munoz
Brash
Uribe
Bizardo
Speier
Santos
Vargas
Kowar

The argument around Skubal has been the mariners would never do it. I think it really turns more on the Tigers would never do it. In the sense Skubal has as much value for them or even more than a team trading for him. They aren't in position to rebuild, but we shall see.

Terms of the mariners, they would get a lot of mileage out of it without it costing them much. I mean the level of excitement and anticipation with fans. It cost some prospects but not money. I think they would be aware of that. Again, I would point at the Cliff Lee trade.

What's the deal with Vogelbomb?

How is trading for 3 years of George Kirby rebuilding???????

He wore out he wore out his Welcome. Nothing but bombastic buffoonery and insults.

I changed my mind. I am trading for Donovan instead of resigning Polo. Will edit when I get back from Walmart. lol

That was in the general sense but okay what's their motivation? Why would the mariners be more motivated to compete next season than the tigers? I don't think that trade would go over well with fans there and I believe teams are getting more and more sensitive to it with the pressure media puts them under these days

I just think the Skubal thing is a big nothing burger. It's fun to discuss but I don't see him getting traded. It would take an outrageous offer for the tigers to overcome their reluctance to make a move like that and I don't think they get one.

Donovan on the other hand, there still be negative aspects for the cardinals but I could see them overcoming them.

Their motivation would be if they think they can still make the playoffs with Kirby and then at the end of next season they have two more years of him instead of a lame late first round comp pick

Another consideration is they might not have anybody to replace them next season whereas we will have potentially Anderson and JC and possibly someone else

I don't think 3 years of Kirby for 1 year of Skubal makes sense. I'm not opposed to trading Kirby but that seems pretty one-sided to me. It's definitely a good deal for the Tigers though.

I like Skubal, but I don't think he's prime Pedro or anything like that. He's hittable. The Mariners hit him decently this year.

Well Don thinks it's a dumb idea for the Tigers and you think it's a dumb idea for the Mariners so I feel pretty good about it LOL
