I think......
Cal should win it because what he did no other catcher was ever close before him
Judge is going to win it because his numbers are so much better
But I won't be mad if Judge does win because Judge's stats were just that good.

It’s unfortunate that one of them won’t be the MVP, since both had historic seasons. I suppose it’s similar to 1941, when Ted Williams hit .406 but lost out to DiMaggio‘s 56 game hitting streak.

Its crazy that Ted Williams had a career 191 OPS+ and he was only MVP twice and his OBP is better than most players Slugging %

A big deal gets made out of that but in 1941 Williams had a 10.4 WAR while DiMaggio had a 9.3, so they were actually close. Williams' surface stats look better but DiMaggio played his home games in a park where it was 402 to straightaway left field and about 460 to left-center field. Put DiMaggio in Boston in 1941 and his numbers jump off the page.
Where Williams got ripped off was in 1947 when he had a WAR of 9.5 but lost to DiMaggio's 4.7

I read somewhere that the owners of the Red Sox and Yankees went out drinking one night and drunkenly decided to trade Williams and DiMaggio. The deal got nixed once they sobered up but imagine DiMaggio with the GreenMonster and Williams with the short RF in Yankee Stadium…

Wow Joe didn't play for THREE seasons during the WAR during his age 28-30 Prime AND retired at 36 yo and still had 2200 hits.
