In honor of the 50 best players ceremony in August I propose we come up with the 50 worst players. I'll start:

Jeff Schaefer. Worst MLB baseball player I have ever seen in my life. He hit .114 in 79 PAs in 1992. .325 OPS!!!

I like this. Maybe add some parameters like at least 200 AB or 100 innings

Sure. Shaefer had 369 PAs and 341 ABs. I guess Ron Wright is out.

Mine since 2000 is Horacio Ramirez. He had 7.94 ERA in 20 starts, he walked more than he struck out(42bb-40k). He ended the 07 season with an ERA+ OF 61, a 1.85WHIP, and 5.50 FiP yet he still managed to win 8 and lose 7.....and this is in a pitchers park!!

He only pitched 98 innings. Sorry he is out based on your criteria. No exceptions.

There are a lot of guys to put on that list, but here are the worst seasons by WAR:

PLAYER: Dan Meyer 1978 (- 2.7), he was a guy who played horrible defense but at least he usually hit. However, after he, Lee Roy Stanton and Ruppert Jones had big years in 1977, all three of them took a huge dump in 1978. Meyer hit .228, rarely walked and had no power that season. Stanton probably had the biggest performance drop-off in Mariner history, but he was a DH so Meyer gets the honors.

STARTING PITCHER: Mike Parrott 1980 (-2.4), had maybe the most forgotten great Mariner season in 1979 with a WAR of 5.2 and after winning on opening night in 1980 he lost 16 straight with an ERA of 7.28. And it wasn't injuries, dude just lost it.

RELIEF PITCHER: Byron McLaughlin 1980 (-2.7), like Parrott, he was good in 1979 (2.2) and then also just lost it. Apparently he was an asshole who later in life he made and sold counterfeit shoes, fled the country and vanished. https://www.si.com/mlb/2018/03/08/byron ... true-crime

Don't know if the numbers match the perception, but in the last couple years of his life, my dad absolutely hated Jose Paniagua. After a while, every time Paniagua entered the game, dad would announce that the Mariners were sure to lose now, turn off the TV and head for bed
