I don't think Emerson has showed enough in the Minors yet to warrant an opening Day spot at age 20. He's only had 40 games above the A ball level. His .790 OPS in Double A is very good for a 19 year old buts its not like Julio who had an OPS over 1.000 in AA the year before he made the team out of spring training. I think they start with Donovan at third and Young at second and if Young falters maybe we see a June call up for Emerson.

Now we have like 10 outfielders, 5 second basemen, and zero third basemen.

Great job Dipoto.

I agree with you but Jerry doesn't.

It could be Donovan, I just checked and he's played a significant number of games at a lot of positions in his career. 5 errors in 46 career games at third with a .959 fielding percentage so that isn't so hot and hopefully is a fluke. What's surprising is that he's played about 40% of the time in the outfield. All told, this might be one of those proverbial good problems.

I didn't hear him promising a job there. I heard him say the opportunity is there but he has to knock the door down. I took that to mean if he rakes in Spring training he can win the job. He hit .118 in Spring training last year so I think its going to be a bit uphill battle for him.

Of course he isn't going to promise him a job there. Before the trade he would have to beat out Ben and now he has to beat out Cole. If he does then he will be in the OD lineup. btw Young's D was bad last season and Colt's is good so he already has that advantage.

I think Emerson pulls a Julio and makes it to,difficult during ST to demote. ms kee- him and hope for another draft pick

Curious if you guys that went with Young and Donovan think Jerry is blowing smoke about given Colt "Runway" or you don't think Colt will have a good Spring?

I went with option 3 as well. Will be fun to see how it plays out during ST.
