I think that he should help his teams win both and then compare the two.

I get why they have the WBC and it makes sense, but I personally find it kind of annoying, especially when threads like this pop up.

I can understand it. In one case you're winning for your city. In the other you're winning for your country.

How does this thread annoy you. I found it interesting and slightly surprising and enlightening.

I don't really understand what the issue is. We should be annoyed that he could prefer a WBC title? For me it's perfectly understandable, it's what I'd expect to hear from him, particularly in the middle of the event. I thought he gave a great answer. The WS is about him, the WBC is about his country, his people, his village. It make him happier to deliver a WBC championship to his country than winning a WS for himself. It's like Pacman here. I cant describe how important he was to the Philippines, it was unbelievable. Nothing in America to compare to it. Yeah he was fighting for himself but he was also fighting for his country. For a baseball team of DR players to win a world title I could see being pretty important in the DR

I just listened to the Vladimir Guerrero Jr answer, same type of answer, the two are different. He refers to winning a WS as being for his team rather than himself.

But I bet I could make an argument that winning a WBC classic would be more important to the DR than a WS to Seattle. Winning a, WS would be great but it still really just involve baseball fans. That was the deal with Manny Pacquiao, it wasn't about boxing fans or sports fans, it was the entire country, it was everybody. That's what's hard to grasp, and that's how I imagine it's like in the DR with baseball

Agreed. I really enjoy the WBC when I've seen the games.

Americans aren't allowed to be patriotic anymore and want to kick another country's butt, but that's exactly how these guys feel.

I love the idea. Like the Olympics but they actually use the best players.

Americans are great at everything, if they aren't then it's written off as not important like soccer. It's different being a small poor country being the best at something
