Kirby vs Pallante. Pall has a decent ERA and Stl has been playing better than our offense.

Yep no shitty starters this series. Maybe that is a good think knowing how schizo our hitters are:

Jerry did just an awesome job building the bullpen this off season a Vargas injury brings it to its knees I guess.

The Phillies, Red Sox, and Mets are all under performing, especially relative to their payrolls.
But the Mariners are ridiculous. For all this talk about our amazing pitching staff in all the hype about our bullpen, I don’t see this as a competitive team.
Frankly, I’d rather have what Oakland has: burgeoning offensive machine and a pitching staff that is competent. I’d rather be excited about batting averages than ERA‘s at this point.
I know it’s early. I know there’s a lot of baseball have to play. But our starting rotation is average, our bullpen is shaky, and our offense hardly has me wanting to tune in and watch games these days. Personally, I can’t wait for the All-Star break to start rooting for this team.

I think a big part of the 11-15 record is the amount of at bats the Mariners give away on a nightly basis. If they can limit that and get more quality AB's the offense will start to come around. Donovan being out has not helped either.
Also, their defense has been subpar. SS and LF are below average at best. I liked Ben Williamson's defense and certainly would be valuable especially in the late innings.
Either way, I hope things work out for the boys this season. Arguably, the expectations from the fan base has never been higher.

Wouldn't have Donovan if we still had Ben.

A's and Rangers tied for 1st 2.5 games ahead of us. Obviously one of them is going to go at least 2-1 so we need to go 2-1 just to stay 2.5 back.
