Blow this shit up, send arozerna away and a few other player for MLb ready. This team as constructed sucks
Re: IMO may be controversial
Couldn't agree more.
Players like Randy and Luis shouldnt reach free agency while they're on the Mariners.
Trade the expiring players, get new ones.
The Mariners completely skip this step in team building.
You can either be a big budget team, or you have to add talent the few other ways available.
Which includes trading expiring players for replacements, not letting them walk with nothing in return.

No it is not time to blow it up, not with so many needed players on the IL. Now you want to blow up the front office and/or coaching staff, I am all for that. Between SS and Dandy Dan, we have had 10 years of all the players manger crap. We need someone to come in and not be there friend but their boss and kick them in the ass.
Re: IMO may be controversial
No, this is dumb. If just half of the lineup waa playing anywhere near their potential, we'd be up by 10 games.
All they have to do is keep up in the race for the weakest division in baseball and, if (big If) shit starts to come together late and they get hot at the right time, they're capable of anything.

Re: IMO may be controversial
I've said in other threads that I don't think they should be buyers at the deadline, and I suspect that's what the front office is thinking as well, which may have something to do with Jerry's recent comments about contending teams trading with each other, as opposed to the traditional fire sale scenarios. If they do make a deal, I don't think it will be for a pure rental type.
I think they'll definitely try to trade Castillo. I'd like to see them trade Randy as well. I'm tired of these guys walking for nothing.
And keep Sloan and Anderson in the minors. There's zero reason to bring them up this year.

Well they can give Randy a QO for a draft pick that MIGHT help the team in 2031....bpj wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2026 4:50 amCouldn't agree more.

It doesn't matter how well the team is constructed if Dan doesn't use players to their strength. Maybe this is old-school thinking, but when your prototypical 4 hole hitter is batting 2nd and your team leader in OBP and SB is hitting 5th for much of the year, you're not going to manufacture many runs. You're telling everyone we hope to hit more solo HRs than you. Randy or Robles need to bat lead off with a situational hitter in the 2 spot. Nobody setting the table for the middle of the lineup. We rank 23rd in sacrifices, 19th in sac fly's, 21st in hits per run. Dan might as well be sitting in the stands with us eating a hot dog.
It's unfortunate he's not so hands off with the pitching staff.

My friends, the fish rots from the head. This franchise is shoddily financed by ownership, ineptly constructed by the GM and blindly run by the coaching staff. There is no other explanation for years of mediocre performance in one of the weakest divisions in baseball.
Jerry had nearly a decade to tear it down, rebuild it and develop players through the farm system. Apart from selecting and developing a cadre of talented young pitchers, this whole rebuild has been a shit show and a half. And soon we will lose several of our young arms to free agency - we have pissed away our window.
A year ago the White Sox were a laughing stock of baseball. This year, they are on top of the AL central. The A’s are surging and look scary if they can get an established rotation. The Marlins and Rays are both surging despite being near the bottom of their divisions last year.
We have to come to grips with the fact that as long as this team is led by the people who are currently at the helm, nothing will change. Yeah, we might accidentally get just the right mix of players that magically gel while the rest of the division crumbles behind them. It could happen. But what we really need is for the team to be controlled by owners who are committed to winning the world series over pure profits, and a GM and coach who understand roster construction and daily management of baseball teams. Until then we have to hope we catch some lightening in a bottle.

Re: IMO may be controversial
What happened with Julio yesterday is a microcosm for the problem with the picture at large.
Hollander said that Julio didn't start yesterday because they wanted him to go through a full pre-game warm up to see how he responded. There was a whole ass All Star break for him to do this. You're telling me they couldn't have had him show up to the stadium Thursday and do a mock pre-game warm up and see his response? Instead, they act like yesterday's game doesn't matter and boom 7-0, 2-hit loss with his replacement pushing a moronic bunt only to get thrown out stealing 5 seconds later.
Then he said that Donovan will be in Tacoma for a "long" rehab assignment. They said it will be so long that he will alternate between playing in Tacoma and Everett, meaning that this will take place over multiple home trips for Tacoma.
I mean... let Donovan hit in 3 games and get his ass up on the fucking roster.
They have no urgency ever. And that's the problem with the whole org.

I’d say that we should trade away some starting pitching for an established right handed bat (right fielder) and a 3B. I’ve been looking at the free agent class for 2027 and it looks pretty thin for rightfielders and third base. In fact, there’s practically nothing that will be available at third base, and most of the right field free agents are expensive, on the wrong side of 30, and/or are under performing this season.
Yes, get rid of Luis Castillo. But that will likely just get us a short-term rental for the season. Will likely need to part with one of our younger pictures like Kirby to get something back in return. With a couple of kids waiting in the wings, I think we can do it, and now is the time.
