8/8/26 How about we hit some jacks off Jax game thread
Sure looking forward to another one-game reign on the game thread.
Biggest homestand of the season and this team has scored in 3 out of 36 innings, all via the long ball. No other team in baseball does this.
30th in batting average, 29th in runs. We're seven runs ahead of the Blue Gays who will be going up against a pitcher with a 5.55 ERA so we might be pulling a 30-30 after this game. Dare to dream...
Well, there's your pep talk. Now let's go out there, knock those bums down and fart on their heads.
By the way, too bad this tour didn't happen back in the day:

One wonders if it would be better if we just abandon the starters list and just have one big "Offical August Game Thread" thread instead.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2026 5:17 amSure looking forward to another one-game reign on the game thread.
You have to check the starter list about 3 days after your last loss as it feels like it comes round that quickly. Might even be worth each starter putting the order in the first post so we can see when our walk to the guillotine starts.

Good luck DG, you used to have some good streaks.
Once again I will be asleep whilst you all suffer.

Current MLB streaks
Red Sox W9
Cubs W5
Rays W4
Mets W4
Athletics L9
Dodgers L7
White Sox L4
Marlins L4
Pirates L4
Rockies L4
Apoplexy can't be limited to just us, albeit the Dodgers are still 7 games in the lead.
The third Wild Card in the American League will be taken by someone who finishes around .500. It might even come down to us or the Rangers.
Bloody hell, there is still hope - and that's the worst thing in sports.
We've been in the last chance saloon since the break.
Make a change Dipshit, try something FFS.

Seriously. Almost nobody wanted to do it so they got guys who were probably about their 500th phone call to take part. Apparently Mario Mendoza and Pat Putnam had prior commitments. That's just embarrassing. No other franchise would do something like that.

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll do a better job for the 100 year celebration.

BTW, in light of what the Red Sox have been doing isn't it now fair to say that the people who have smugly proclaimed the unimportance of managers were full of shyte?

Mostly coincidental. Usually mid-season managerial changes don't move the needle. A new manager doesn't install some new offense or give a rah-rah Independence Day speech. The Sox have talented players who just finally got hot and they've stayed hot. They could just as easily be playing .500 ball. Realistically, the difference between Dan Wilson and the best manager in baseball is just a few games.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2026 5:38 pmBTW, in light of what the Red Sox have been doing isn't it now fair to say that the people who have smugly proclaimed the unimportance of managers were full of shyte?
