Most Depressing Sports Moments

Name your own in each of the three major sports.........

Mine:
1) NFL - The Super Bowl Pick to end a dynasty
2) NBA - Sonics losing to the Nuggets in 1994
3) MLB - Tonight

I'll also add - 1982 Apple Cup in Pullman. I was in my 2nd year at the UW and we all had our plane tickets bought and paid for to go to the Rose Bowl because we were so confident it was a given we'd beat the Cougs that year. We all drove to Pullman for the game, and the end of it was a major heartbreak. Chuck Nelson (Mr. Automatic) misses a FG late, and we lose in that hell hole of a stadium. Pretty depressing ride back to Seattle.

I don't remember that Apple Cup, because I was 5. But it sounds like it was great.

I’d agree with your list, minus last night. This team makes it really hard for me to care if they lose. That Apple Cup sucked. I was just a 9 year old kid, but remember being stunned that Nelson misses.

It was a typical Cougar Apple Cup victory where they had to rely on the Huskies to win for them. Even the 0-12 Dawgs were better than the Cougs that season and had to literally hand them a freebie. Rarely have the Cougars ever actually straight up beaten the Huskies.

I have to confess, i was at a homedepot when he missed that FG. But it was strange, they had the broadcast on the PA system. The whole store just went silent.

Sounds about right....my entire house went silent! It was like Hailey's Comet for Nelson to miss.

One of my worst was actually a regular season game when the Huskies lost it Golden Tate's Notre Dame. An insane game that we should have won. I went for a walk afterward and it started pouring rain and I had my little dachshund Arthur at the time and he was pissed off. We both were pissed off. LOL
