BREAKING: The Tampa Bay Rays have received MLB's permission to explore becoming two-city team: the Tampa Bay area and Montreal, sources tell ESPN. The plan: Play early-season home games in the Tampa Bay area and finish the season in Montreal. News at ESPN:
BTW, I don’t think this is crazy. I think it’s smart. It’s a way for a second-tier team to tap into undeveloped markets. I eventually see us doing the same with Vancouver, or Portland, and becoming a regional team.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 5:40 pmOK this is crazy:

1500. Guessing they won't be playing in Montreal in October with an average low of 39.Jack Merridew wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 5:56 pmWhat fan is going stick with a team that plays the second half of the season in a city 1000 miles away? And which city would host playoff games? I'd be pissed.
If it came down to a team increasing their revenues, you can be sure they would work out as many of the kinks as possible: fan loyalty, playoff siting, new ballpark construction in the sister city...all that. The choice of Montreal for a Florida team is weird, although I could see Miami doing it with San Juan PR.Jack Merridew wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2019 5:56 pmWhat fan is going stick with a team that plays the second half of the season in a city 1000 miles away?
