My plan for Felix: Project Exit Gracefully

Slow play his rehab for another month or so and get him as healthy as possible in Tacoma. Then announce in mid August that he will be making his final appearance ever as an opener vs. the Yankees the last week of August. Knowing he will be only pitching one inning he can go all out at max velocity (93mph?)
Build it up as Felix appreciation night (it will be sold out with the Yanks in town) and pray to God he gets through the first inning unscathed and then let him ride off into the sunset.

I think Felix is in semi retirement now by his own choice. Wouldn't surprise me if it plays out close to what you're saying DT. Just waiting for the populist minimum league wage signing to keep the idiot part of the fan base happy next season.

It's a great concept, but Felix doesn't strike me as the type of guy that would 'fade into the sunset'. I'm expecting he'll be a little more truculent about things, if indeed, they go this way.

hmmm I don't sense that he has any desire to pitch any longer........but would embrace the one inning finale to say goodbye to his fans.

Can't actually even say there has been many questions about his injury or clamour to watch him pitch.

And they should issue everyone in the stadium a "K" card for his final outing.

Only problem is, the King’s Court folks will need more than the One Inning to finish The Ceremonial Last Chicken

What? No farewell tour? Maybe we should start next season with a series against Oakland in Venezuela and Felix can make his announcement in his home? Can we not trade him to the Yankees before the deadline? Let him restart his career in this year's pennant race.
Seriously, it would be nice to prepare for a graceful exit for Felix. Certainly the M's have a mixed history regarding the way they treat their heroes at the end of their careers.... Screwed up on Griffey, did well with Ichiro.... Randy Johnson, Jamie Moyer, traded.... probably time for the M's to start doing things right...

If the great Ichiro can retire that quickly...then anything is possible. I would love to see Felix go out that way It would be short and sweet
