Misery loves company. I have Jessye Norman singing Richard Strauss’ “Four Last Songs” on while watching. It’s kind of Gotterdammerung and fitting.

I was never much of an opera buff but i have always loved the overture from Wagner's Meistersingers of Neuremberg since performing it at Marrowstone music camp back in the early 80's.

I was a Nuremberg townsperson in the Chicago Lyric Opera production of ‘Der Meistersinger’ in the ‘77 season. It was a blast. I got the gig by plying the costuming director with a couple of free drinks where I bartended.

Productive night for the boys. Cal Raleigh HRs again. JRod with a multi hit game. Iran McKinney takes a no hitter 6.2 innings. Ends with 7.0 ip, 1 H, 1 BB, 10 K (3 against our old ground Garreth Morgan). Kirby pitches 2 scoreless innings for his debut. Donnie Walton goes 3-5 with a HR.
