I know everyone loves Vogelbach and I really do. But if another team offers an attractive offer for him do you think that Jerry will listen or is he untouchable?? Right now I think that the only real untouchable on the major league roster is Haniger and Marco.

I think it’s very possible, under the circumstance where the return is a more difficult piece to obtain, such as a LHP with top-3 starter potential. Depending on the market or farm system, it might be easier to replace Vogelbach with a player of similar abilities, and pursue such a piece.

there is an issue with Vogelbach, the inability to hit left handed pitching. Its hard to carry a player on your roster these days that doesn't offer any real defensive value or speed, it makes it harder if you have to platoon them on top of it, so i would not think of him as untouchable

I think Vogelbach will improve, enjoy a few years at a serviceable peak but his bulk will increase his odds of having legs or feet problems and a pretty short career as a DH who can only score from third base on extra base hits.
I think he could also get fatter once he enjoys more success. If I was the GM, I'd call him into the office and discuss these concerns with him just to hear what Farley has to say about them..well before future contract negotiations.
I'd trade him for pitching with a playoff bound team that needs him more than we do right now.

Yeah his weight concerns me too, I'm a bulky guy like him and while I'm in my mid 40's ive already got arthritis in the knees. Hurts like hell too.

Other teams see the same problems with him, so I doubt he brings a ton back. It's him or Santana at DH 2021 and beyond though. Not sure which I prefer.
