Schneider gives Austin Calitro to Jaguars

Post by Sibelius Hindemith » Wed Sep 04, 2019 3:07 pm

I can't figure this one out. The linebackers are the oldest starting position group on the team and they are going to miss games, so having depth there is important. Calitro was making strides and was probanly one of the better reserve LB's out there. Unlike the two draft picks (and Griffin), he's proven it out there. Why was it more important to have a FB, 7 WRs, and a LB that is only useful on special teams? Just stupid. Did JS go on a bender to celebrate the Clowney trade and lose his ability to think straight? I'm guessing he wanted to avoid creating bad feelings with Shaquille or anyone elase that was enamored with the feel-good story of having Shaquem on the team.

I read that they didn't want to cut Griffin because of the negative impact it might have on his brother. I hope to God that wasn't the case.

Clayton thought they were going to place Shaquem on the IR due to a knee issue. So hemight not even be able to contribute on ST until later in the season.

Anyway, i hope they are looking at LBs with some experience that were cut by other teams to add to the practice squad.

^^^^^^^^ I believe this. Did you see the game BBK put together? That's what you'll never see Shaquem do. It takes more than a 40 time. It takes preparation, intelligence, anticipation. You know want to. Griffin is more concerned with his off field celebrity than football.

Now having vented. I don't understand this obsession with Austin Calitro.

Yeah, probably an over-reaction on my part, especially since i just read that the Jags will probably add AC to their practice squad.

Completely baffled at all the drool over Calitro - if i didnt know better I'd think he had been a local favorite like Kasen Williams.
Can't cover, so pretty limited, best suited to a 3-4. And just in case we forgot, our starters are KJ Wright, Michael Kendricks and Bobby freakin Wagner. and new young depth behind them. not too worried about losing Austin, sorry.

Lets hope Kendricks avoids the gray bar hotel...

Calitro was solid. Good on special teams.
