I do NOT want McCarthy!

That said, I think it is pretty tough to bang on Pete for not taking care of the QB position. He did, immediately. Russ went Hollywood, that's not on Pete. After that? Hell, even before that, they did a lot to try and address the issue. They were on Josh Allen, Pat Mahomes and many others. But, did you want this organization to mortgage what we thought was a shot at a Super Bowl to draft a guy like that to sit behind Russ for two years, with the other holes in that roster?

I never faulted Pete or John for the QB issues. Sorry, that is on Russ. They solved the issues, Russ just decided to NOT be a Franchise QB because somehow that was best for his brand. He decided he WAS Pat Mahomes, even though he wasn't. If you want to fault Pete for the QB position? Fault him for not setting things straight with Russ and Golden Tate, and for not stopping him from wedding Cialis.

It amazes me that Aurora has an issue here. The guy that HATES revisionist history in the draft. Dude, besides Lamar Jackson, what QB did they pass on that they had a shot at? In hindsight? I sure wish they had signed Lamar, but at that time? We had holes to fill. We didn't fill them, that's for fucking sure, so yeah...Lamar would have been the right call. But I doubt we were going to be able to move Russ for much when the entire league would have known Lamar was the man of the future so Russ was going to become a FA anyway.

It's not like the WRs, O Lineman, TEs and many other positions of need we passed on to trade down for shit that didn't work or to draft guys like Germina Ifedi, LJ Collier and Jordyn Brooks. Did we need an OT? Yep, but was Ifedi the guy? Nope. Did we need an edge rusher? Yep, was Collier and Edge Rusher? Fuck no. Did we need a middle LB? Fuck no. We needed and edge rusher. Was Brooks an edge rusher? Shit not, he wasn't even a passing down LB, but we sure as fuck used a first round pick on a LB in this day and edge that doesn't affect the passing game. Stupid. It's like hiring Aaron Curry to be your pass rush specialist. WTF?

So, I find it hilarious that the guy that refuses to allow criticism for some of the dumbest draft day moves in history, is throwing shade at them for not taking a QB, when they really only passed on one. And at that time? They had the Franchise guy. Could they have maybe not spent draft capital on guys like Sheldon Richardson, Jamal Adans and Percy Harvin? Sure, but I don't recall AA ever allowing us to be critical of that. Nope, they did everything right, but Pete should be held completely accountable because that one time he had a Franchise QB already? He didn't use a first round pick on Lamar Jackson. Unless there is some other Franchise guy we passed on that I don't recall?

Pete is gone so what they have done in the past may not be the best indicator of what they will do. I think they will trade up and take a QB. Also after looking at the salary cap, I think Geno is gone. They can save 13.8 Million by cutting him. I think they do that and run with a lower paid veteran as the mentor/ fall back plan.
How are we going to trade up without a 2nd round pick. If we trade our 1st (16th) and 3rd (78th) it only moves us up to 12th. I guess we could trade a 2025 1st or second rounder..

This is where the briliant success of the last two drafts really helps us - JS can afford to deal the future first round pick in addition to the 16 and 78 picks this year to move up to the #3 - #6 range to get Daniels because there's enough quality pieces and youth already in place. The starters we already know about (Cross, Lucas, JSN, Mafe, Walker, Spoon, and Woolen), but i envision growing contributions from at least a couple of Oluwatimi, Bradford, Young, and Hall as well.
So go get your QB and use your few remaining picks on LB and S where you don't have solid youth in waiting.

Interesting....I like Daniels. Next year's #1 for him would be fine with me. Until next year when I'm pissed we don't have a first and I want to watch the draft. LOL

Reading about the Pats decision to draft Mac Jones. You need a QB so you draft one. But if he isn't actually special you can be screwed for years
"They were in, in the words that were uses to me by one person, 'quarterback purgatory' at the time," Perry added. "You don't take your shots on the quarterback position, you're never going to hit. So Bill Belich he looked at Mac Jones and thought he was a good enough player, did his grade quite meet the spot where they were in the draft? Was he fully all-in him? Did he want to trade up for him, potentially? No, that's my understanding.

"He didn't feel that strongly about Mac Jones, but he understood where they were as an organization, what they needed and they thought Mac Jones was good enough. And so they all ultimately came to that decision and Bill Belichick was the one who ultimately pulled the trigger."

So, they want to go in a different direction, but the two leading candidates are defensive guys?

Well, Michael, I've heard it said more than once that defense wins championships. Both Quinn and McDonald are proved coaches and I believe they could both be what we need.

Another question I have is... After looking at DT's list, where did Penix drop to?
