The read option and Russ’s legs don’t show up here though. Big difference.

Thats a fair point but even with the read option and Beastmode, this offense is better.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 3:06 pmThe read option and Russ’s legs don’t show up here though. Big difference.
2013: 339 Yards per game (17th in the NFL) 26.1 pts per game (9th in the NFL)
2025: 351 Yards per game (8th in the NFL) 28.4 pts per game (3rd in the NFL)

Wow! What is really surprising to me is that the yards are only up 12 per game, but they ranked improved by more than half! Points per game makes sense to me. The one thing that frustrated me the most about Pete Carroll was how slow he would start out in games, and how he basically acted like a punt was a win because they didn't turn it over.
MM is a little less aggressive than guys like McVey and Shannahan, but he and Kubiak are like Don Coryell compared to Pete and Bevell!

Apparently the Raiders were frustrated with Carroll, too!Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Jan 06, 2026 4:14 pmThe one thing that frustrated me the most about Pete Carroll was how slow he would start out in games, and how he basically acted like a punt was a win because they didn't turn it over.

I know he is known for his positive energy and all of that, but his stubbornness was his downfall. Refusing to admit that there is any other way to win football games besides what worked in 2012 through 2016 or so was ridiculous. I didn't watch enough this year to really form an opinion, but what I saw was same old Pete. Very undisciplined. That young and Hungry LOB defense with an athletic Russ and a Beast in Lynch? Sure, but I'm pretty sure they could have just had Pete be the VP of Football ops and a hype man in the locker room, and let the Assistants coach and won with that group.
