There are no preseason games in Youth football. There are no preseason games in high school football. There are no preseason games in college. How come people think that all of the sudden professional football players who have been playing the game their whole lives and are the best in the world are unable to function at a high level without 4 full games of practice football? I say let the teams have a couple of inter-squad scrimmages and then jump right into an 18 game season. you can pay the players more and add another buy week to pacify the injury concerns.
The players not playing during the pre-season isn't the problem with the game...the fact that they never practice is the problem with the game. Hell, eliminate the entire pre-season, add a game to the regular season and actually allow the teams to practice and the product on the field would improve. You are correct, all the other teams don't have pre-season, besides the kids lower than college possibly playing in Jamborees. But what they do is practice! The NFL game better hope that Fantasy football and betting continues, which I am sure it will. But if that was to somehow change, tell me you would actually watch? I have watched many Thursday night games this season that have been down right terrible. The only reason to watch is Fantasy.
To be honest? I have stopped watching as much. I really do think the product sucks. Do we really believe that is because these players aren't as talented anymore....or because they have no idea what to do while on the field because they are never practicing it?
