Seahawks trading up to #3?!!
Re: Seahawks trading up to #3?!!
I can't see moving up two spots, giving up a drafting primo defensive player and at least another very valuable pick -- to a division rival no less -- all to draft a rookie QB who will be on the bench for likely two years. But what do I know lol.
The Seahawks surprise me every year in April, and I think this still may be Operation Fortitude -- to make the Germans and the rest of the NFL think that the Seahawks will attack at Pas-de-Calais, instead of at Normandy.

Re: Seahawks trading up to #3?!!
yeah I agree with all of that except the "4 QBs" part I'd change to "2 QBs". I was willing to overlook the racing bit as not that big a deal, but I have a really hard time getting past gaining 9 lbs and not even finishing the already-limited drills he ran. That just doesn't seem like the kind of thing that happens to somebody that really wants to be great.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 1:04 am
Mid-season, I was right there with on Carter's inclusion as a possible scenario with Anderson and the 4 QB's. I still have sleepless nights of the Malik McDowell blunder and how we drafted potential over character. We thought we might be able to coach him up. But I've seen too many McDowell, Harvin's, and Boykin's of the world and not enough ADB's! So I get really nervous when I see game tape on the biggest stage, a combine, AND a Pro Day all go up in flames. Not to mention the circus draft racing to go along with the fact there's a number of individuals around the league who thinks this kid has an attitude problem. That's one too many red flags for me.
Could he have been the hands down best overall prospect in this draft? You bet you're ass! There's no denying this kid's potential. But I value character very highly when thinking about who would be perfect for our locker room. That was what the Seahawks preached going into last year's draft and they absolutely crushed it along with the Jets draft. I think they carry that same mind set coming into this one as well.
If you or anyone could predict that the Hawks could get every last possible positive outcome out of Carter for the future, then I could see a situation where Seattle would have no choice but to take him when we pick.
All that said, the coaches and management are privvy to more info than we are, and have a much better idea of what is going on. For that reason, I'm ok with them passing on him or picking him, and for most any decision they make in the draft, as long as it's not ridiculous. For the record, trading up to 3 to get Richardson would fall in the ridiculous category for me.
Re: Seahawks trading up to #3?!!
I tend to agree. I'd use this draft to load up on defense and one O-Lineman for our top four draft picks. The Hawks have the opportunity to acquire both quantity and quality. No team would swap their #3 pick for a #5 without including additional picks and our first four positions are tremendously valuable. It isn't often you get that many prized picks. Swapping, in my humble opinion, would only do us some good IF (big IF) we give away draft picks outside the second round.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 10:54 pmThis would piss me off beyond belief. Not only would they be passing on one game changing defensive player at the top of the draft, they would likely be giving up that 20 pick as well which means we are looking at praying we get some second and third rounders to overachieve to have any semblance of a good defense.

It's being reported at other sites. Here is four possible trade proposals using standard trade charts
Four seems like a huge overpay, this is what he saysOption 1: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 37 to Cardinals for pick No. 3
Option 2: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 37, and No. 123 to Cardinals for pick No. 3
Option 3: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 37, and 2024 second round pick to Cardinals for pick No. 3
Option 4: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 20 to Cardinals for pick No. 3
https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/.amp/ne ... -schneiderDepending how badly Schneider wants Richardson or another quarterback prospect, he may have to put all of his chips onto the table. Offering both first round picks to move up only two spots would be deemed a significant overpay based on either trade chart model, but sliding up in the top five can be extremely costly and if he truly believes he has a chance to draft a future star under center, that price may be well worth the lucrative investment.

all 4 of them are overpays, both by the charts and by the eye test. The closest one is Option 1, which gives 2230 value to the Cardinals' 2200. And for what? A third string QB? Much more plausible we trade #5 to LV for #7 and #70.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 4:19 amIt's being reported at other sites. Here is four possible trade proposals using standard trade charts

If the Cards want to add draft capital and draft Anderson there's only one trade partner for them. I don't think a deal has to be significantly rich, but it should be compelling, yet fair.
I had #3 and #66 going to Seattle and #5 and #20 going to AZ. Both teams get to keep the same number of picks. Seattle has been interviewing a bunch of 2nd and 3rd projected guys since the combine, and I don't know if they have interviewed anyone projected round #20.
Here are the guys that they have reportly interviewed:
LB Daiyan Henley (2nd round projection)
CB Julius Brents (2nd round projection)
RB Zach Charbonnet (2&3 round projections)
C John Michael Schmitz (2nd round projection)
CB Kelee Ringo (2nd round projection)
S JL Skinner (prior to signing Love) (late 3rd round projection)

Furthermore, AZ is going to need a WR to replace Hopkins when they trade him away for a 3rd rounder. This is why they'll demand #20 and not one of 2nd rounders.Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 9:21 amGreat stuff!Cascade Kid wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 6:35 amIf the Cards want to add draft capital and draft Anderson there's only one trade partner for them.
