It is actually one of the cooler team names and very unique other than Winnipeg. Closest to the Jets would be a former NBA team based in Seattle...

Found this but no explanation where the name came from.

I believe NY Jets were named because of the stadium under the flight path - always jets overhead - as opposed to the supersonics, who were named after the Boeing supersonic jet program which was ultimately scuttled as Boeing was running out of money and had to put all thier resources into the new 747 as they were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy - 747's success saved the company. Really great story.

If it's an achilles tear then i would think it might be a career ender. Depends how motivated he is to keep going. But coming back from that at 41 would be tough.

Yeah, Shea stadium... trivia 1975, Yankees, Mets, jets and giants all played at Shea stadium

Question: why are Jets fans generally more likely to also be Mets fans, and are they also partial to a particular NBA or NHL team (since there are two of each in NYC)?

I guessed as much about the NY Jets but the Winnipeg Jets almost seems like a joke. Does Winnipeg even have an airport??? lol

I have a friend that is a Mets and Giants fan and he says it is unusal.

Some of it is about the Borough where fans grew up but it is also old school vs. new school. Giants and Yankees obviously the former....

it's official - torn achilles - out for the year. That's probably the sun setting on Rodgers career. On the bright side, he got to bang Olivia Munn for a few seasons and he won a super bowl...listed in order of importance, obviously.

So would Mets/Jets fans also prefer the Nets over the Knicks?

Winnepeg Hockey Team Naming committee - top three priorities for team name.
1. Something Canadians will be able to spell.
2. Something Canadians will be able to pronounce.
3. Somehting that screams "massive carbon footprint, because fuck those lefties..."
