Tyler was going to be gone regardless of JSN's progress. They can save 26 Million in cap space by cutting him after this year. There is no way they are passing that up. I do suspect that Tyler is the type of guy who might restructure with an extension, or resign after he is cut. I don't really see him as a guy who is going to get a ridiculous amount of money on the open market.

Yeah, he's talked about retirement. He's got plenty of money and a new kid
“It just sounded like a good year," Lockett said, via The Seattle Times. "It was like when my financial lady asked me, ‘When do you want to retire? I said ‘30.'

“It was like, ‘All right, you’re 30.' I was like, ‘Ah, I’ll just keep on playing.’”

The Seahawks are currently scheduled to be $6 million over the 2025 cap. That qualifies as the third-worst cap situation of any team in the league heading into the offseason. It’s a minimal amount that Schneider should easily navigate, but it makes creating funds via releasing players a borderline necessity.

So are we ready to retract the mean things we said about him?
I've been ready and should have already been forgiven for my sin. I was screaming for him to get the ball
more 3 weeks, or more, before Grubb and Gino did.
Where I was wrong was last year. I understood he was a rookie but I sensed he had some diva-like tendencies.
I basically thought he had a shitty attitude. I take it all back. In year two, he seems to be taking after Lockett,
and not DK. He's a model citizen and all he does is make catches and YAC. Great kid. Glad I was wrong.

Interesting, I was thinking more calling his pick a reach but yeah, I guess there was more to it. He seemed to be getting frustrated. Yeah it's nice to see how its developed. They've had some pretty good WR picks

It's JSN that is going to replace Lockett, he's going to become the primary receiver, him and DK. They will need to find a replacement for JSN as the 3rd option. I wasn't saying to get rid of DK but more anything is possible. Something has going to give in terms of the catches and the contracts. Just in time for JS to manipulate some cap space
Howell over Geno next season. Done.

He seems like a guy that won't miss football too much after he retires.

Regarding Lockett -
He's been my favorite Seahawk for a long time. He is the #2 best Seahawk receiver of all time.
At this point in his career, is he not getting open like he used to, or is Geno and Grubb not looking for him
because they feel DK and JSN are better options? I'm not butt hurt about it, but it seems unlikely to me
that a guy that has always excelled at getting open is no longer open.
As far as his future after this year, I can't tell if Tyler wants one more big payday or not. It's consensus that the
Seahawks won't be paying him and will likely cut him instead of paying. Which doesn't preclude them from
re-signing him at a much lesser contract, if Tyler is willing.

As to if Lockett is instead looking to retire soon anyway, for a long time I've felt he has a bad back or something.
Watch him when the play is stopped. He moves and postures like a person with a bad back. He's been avoiding hits,
when there's no logical reason to take one, for quite a few years now. If he does decide to play for another team to
get another decent contract, I predict it would be with the Steelers to reunite with RW.

Cut Fant, Jones Tyler and that is 42 million in cap savings.
