Doesn't sound like PC is content with his advisory role which entailed sitting by the phone waiting to see if someone would call to check and see if the the Hawks could win games in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd quarters. LOL

Every time I read that I want to die. Again, how many NFL owners are "football people"? Second? How many years in a row do we have to lose the same fucking way before someone tells the guy...this aint working!?

2. Incredibley unimaginative offense
3. A defense that is so afraid of the big play it makes no plays and gives up third down conversions like candy at Halloween
4. Bad penalties
5. Shitty on Third down, worse in the Red Zone.

Maybe not all five of those things have been staples since we last won anything after the WC round of the playoffs, but it sure seems that way. He is absolutley delusional if he thinks he had ZERO opportunity to fix this. I am actually shocked that the same guy that admitted that halfway through the season he changed a defense that was playing pretty well because he was afraid of the big play. That defense COLLAPSED, and he thinks HE should be the guy deciding how to fix what's broke?

The guy is more likely to break what don't need fixing. Did the same thing to the offense in 2020. Again, go back and look at Pete's record after the 6 and 1 start that he wasn't comfortable with. He decided we needed to change an offense that was setting records. 30 and 33 which includes 0 and 2 in the playoffs. That is how we have been since he decided he wasn't comfortable with 6 and 1.

Yep, he had no opportunity to fix it and the only reason he isn't getting more chances is the dumb asses that fired him aren't football guys.

Just mind boggling to me that a significant portion of the fan base wanted to go the definition of insanity route with him running it back Again. Thank God Jody wasn't one of them.

As usual there is more to this story:

Reports of this nature can’t exactly paint a full picture, however. The Seahawks need to request to talk to assistant coaches from other NFL teams but not candidates who are either free agents or working in the college game. There is also the fact that they have reported interest in other assistant coaches whose teams either were just eliminated in the playoffs (such as Houston Texans OC Bobby Slowik) or were still playing on Sunday (Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson).

Pelissero added in his report on social media that “there likely will be others” added to Seattle’s list of second interviews, and that the Seahawks’ search led by general manager John Schneider is “a thorough process.”

The Seahawks reportedly had at least one first interview this weekend, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter posting that Seattle was one of Slowik’s three interviews set for Sunday.

And then there were four?

Well, there could be if the Los Angeles Chargers’ pursuit of Jim Harbaugh — which was said to be intensifying Tuesday — proves successful.

If the Chargers and Harbaugh work out a deal, that would leave just the Seahawks and three other NFL teams — Atlanta, Carolina and Washington — in need of coaches.

There were seven a week ago, but since then the Las Vegas Raiders have hired Antonio Pierce, and the Tennessee Titans have reportedly hired Brian Callahan (the team had not made it official as of Tuesday evening).

If the Chargers take Harbaugh off the table, that is one fewer team Seattle is competing with in its efforts to find a successor for Pete Carroll.

Speaking of Carroll, a report Tuesday from Pro Football Talk stated that he was “making a push” for the Chargers job.

The report was the first linking Carroll with any job since it was learned two weeks ago he would not return as Seattle’s coach. And from the minute his Seattle tenure ended some pointed to the Chargers as a team he might be interested in coaching given his ties to Los Angeles, where for nine years he coached USC (2001-09).

Appearing to give some validity to the report that Carroll might be interested in the Chargers job was a quote from rapper and actor Snoop Dogg to Fox Sports in a story published Monday.

Speaking at a promotional event, Snoop Dogg was quoted as saying that he called Carroll when the Seahawks news was announced and that Carroll said he wanted to keep coaching.

“He wanted to go to the Chargers,” Snoop Dog said. “That’s what he wanted. But I don’t know if they want him.”

And indeed, as of Tuesday afternoon the PFT report was the only one mentioning Carroll’s interest in the Chargers, with all other reports during the day instead focusing on the negotiations with Harbaugh.

If those talks fall through, it could impact the Seahawks. The Chargers reportedly were interested in talking with former Tennessee coach Mike Vrabel, who has also been reported as a potential target of Seattle’s.

But as of Tuesday afternoon, there had been no reports of the Seahawks setting up an interview with Vrabel.

To get a sense of the competition the Seahawks could be up against, here’s a look at the remaining openings.

Washington Commanders
If the Chargers take Harbaugh, Washington might become the most serious competitor for a coach thought to be among those at the top of Seattle’s list — Dan Quinn.

A report from Bleacher Report on Tuesday said Quinn is set for an in-person interview with Washington on Sunday. But that’s only after Quinn reportedly will meet with the Seahawks in person Thursday.

Washington is also interested in some of other coaches also on Seattle’s list.

It was reported Tuesday that Washington hopes next week to interview both of Detroit’s coordinators — Ben Johnson (offense) and Aaron Glenn (defense) — as teams cannot conduct interviews with coaches in the playoffs this week. Seattle interviewed Johnson over the weekend. He was not on a reported list of five coaches Seattle wants for second interviews, but there is nothing to indicate he also doesn’t remain on Seattle’s radar.

Johnson has been considered as a favorite for the Washington job.

Washington is also reportedly talking this week with Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris and Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. Seattle also talked with Slowik last week, but he was not on the list of five second interviews.

Carolina Panthers
The Panthers made a major move Monday that figures to influence their coaching search in hiring Dan Morgan as their general manager.

That name might sound familiar. Morgan filled several roles in Seattle’s front office from 2010-17, including as director of pro personnel his last three years.

Morgan’s ascension to the GM job appears to be a reason another former Seahawks employee — Dave Canales — might suddenly be in the running for the head-coaching job.

A report from The Athletic said there is “momentum building for Dave Canales’ candidacy in Carolina” and noted his relationship with Morgan from their time in Seattle. Canales was an assistant with the Seahawks from 2010-22 in several offensive roles, including receivers coach and quarterback coach before becoming the offensive coordinator for Tampa Bay this season.

Though Canales has deep Seattle ties, there has been no indication he is on the Seahawks’ list.

The Panthers also remain interested in one of their own, as it was reported that defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero had a second interview Monday.

Evero is on Seattle’s reported list of five coaches it wants to interview a second time after interviewing him virtually last week.

Carolina has also talked with Quinn, but there has been no report of a second interview.

Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons’ search might have seemed done when it was revealed Friday that they had conducted a second interview with Bill Belichick. But nothing more has happened with that, and the Falcons have interviewed other coaches, some of whom are on Seattle’s list.

That includes Evero, who it was reported Atlanta wants to talk to this week, as well as Morris and Vrabel.

The Falcons confirmed via social media that Morris had completed a second interview with the team Tuesday.

That only Belichick and Morris have had second interviews with the Falcons led some to speculate Atlanta’s search is narrowing on those two.

But Atlanta also is reportedly set for an in-person interview with Vrabel on Wednesday.
