What's there not to like about this guy

Yeah, I have high hopes for him, but am afraid they might only be hopes. Who knows, but he sure needs a TON of work throwing the football.
I wasn't a great athlete, good but not great, above average speed but I never had a problem throwing a football. I could throw better rolling left than right. Perfect spiral from telephone pole to telephone pole about 50 yards. lol
Your hand span must be large. I have a 9" span and struggled to throw a regular football any appreciable distance, but that may have been more about arm strength (or lack thereof).

Think it's more technique than strength
efficient power transfer and a strong throwing motion are crucial. This involves using legs and hips to generate power, followed by a smooth, controlled release.

This is an odd article, predicting the Seahawks will use the tenth pick in next seasons draft to take another QB. No mention at all that they just drafted a QB. It's like the guy isn't aware of it
Mark Stolte of Pro Football Network has the Seahawks taking LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier with the No. 10 pick of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Naturally, if the Seahawks have a top-10 pick, it can be assumed that Darnold does not have a fantastic season. Therefore, the team may feel the need to take a swing on a young passer in a class that is expected to be loaded with talent.

Vikings O line with an average over all grade of 63.4

Robinson 64.7
Brandel 55.2
Bradbury 62.1
Ingram 54.0
O'Neill 80.8

Better than ours but pretty average with one stand out.

When you hear people talk about why they don't think Darnold will work here, playing with fewer weapons, behind a worse O Line and for a play caller not as talented are all they talk about. My thought is imagine how bad those O Line numbers would like if a guy like Darnold was trying to throw to a different receiving group? Kupp has to stay healthy, JSN is going to have to prove he can get open when he is the man, and the TE group here has promise, but we sure don't have TJ Hockinson. All that, and he looked like a less talented version of Geno Smith when the Vikings needed him most last year.

I hope I am wrong, but if our Defense isn't top 10 and the ground game isn't VASTLY improved? I don't see us winning more than 8. Not with these playmakers. The nice thing is? That isn't how they are building this team, that much seems obvious.

You make great points. I hope you are wrong too. lol At least he isn't that UCLA QB Josh Rosen. Dawgs sent him to the locker room crying in the 2nd quarter a few years ago. I could not believe he was even drafted.

Oh man, and Brock Huard called him out, and Jim Mora Jr has never forgiven Brock for that!

The beauty about the way the NFL game is seeming to change is that it is switching back to the style that MM wants these Hawks to play. The Chiefs have lost two of the past three Super Bowls, and went into OT in the one they won. All against smash mouth types of teams built for defense and run game. The funny thing is? It was Seattle that created the first shift. The NFL powers that be hated the LOB, I am sure of it. Rules were created to make the passing game easier. And it worked.

Defenses then made the change. So? Offensive coaches have said "you want to play two deep? You want to take college Safeties and make them LBs? Fine, we are going to pound you into submission then." I think if we were to some how sign Hendrickson? That type of freaky edge rusher combined with the defense we already have? Could make us that type of team on defense. Improving the O Line and adding the back from Miami could make us formidable in the run game. Maybe we don't have to lean on Darnold so much?

I will say this....I don't see a team with Sam Darnold at QB and our WRs winning a ton of shoot outs. I love JSN, but can you design a passing game around a slot guy with out much outside help? I love Cooper Kupp, but can he stay healthy, and even if he does....isn't his normal role the one that JSN already fills?

Our WR group scares the F out of me. A great midget, a white old guy and a guy nobody has heard of. I love the Martinez pick because we need to get more diversity in the NFL with more Mexicans. JUST KIDDING. But that fucker is a bull! Our 3 and 4 RBs might be our best 2. We shall see.

I think offensive lines are more about the sum of the parts, the coaching as opposed to individual talent. I do see some hopeful signs in terms of the Seahawks. It's going to depend on MM knowing what he's doing, his ability to administrate and install what he has learned as a Raven. There was a lot teasing over the coaches he hired, okay but I'm impressed with them. John Benton and Rick Dennison are respected veteran coaches, Dennison has been involved in three SB wins.

I'll try to explain what about the Ravens that impresses me.

I watched a video awhile ago, I posted about it at the time, I believe it was the Ravens offensive line coach either D'Alessandris or Warhup. It was a lecture, can't remember the actual subject but it was offensive line play. I am thinking this should be interesting. So he starts out talking about snap cadence. And he goes on and on and on about it, like a half an hour of snap cadence. I'm thinking this is boring as hell. And then he pulls it together, the Ravens approach, become elite at the details, I believe he used that term. Other teams work on a more general approach, the Ravens focus on details. It kinda blew my mind, his demonstration of it. It was interesting, it could only be a handful of plays the entire season where it's an advantage but the key was to be ready when it was.

So anyway, what's interesting is this from Abraham Lucas the other day...

“We’re trying to be elite at very few things, but those few things are what the offense is going to be based around, and that’s the run game,” Lucas said. “We’re going to be elite at the run game. That’s the philosophy with it. So it’s not some hodgepodge of just a bunch of different stuff we’re just throwing in.

“We’re going to be elite at the basics and make sure that they work so we can do it against anybody.”
That sounds to me like pretty much exactly what the Ravens coach was talking about, I think MM is attempting to install what he's known to work terms of offensive lines.

Lucas
“We have the right coaching, the right tools,” Lucas said. “The identity has definitely changed from last year to this year. It’s on us as far as we want to take it.”
So we shall see

The Seahawks RB room is stacked, but i don't see them being able to impress their will behind an interior line of Zabek, Olu and Haynes/Bradford. Don't know how much of a difference using a FB will make.
