in Seahawk mentality they sure were. All had attitude and played with a chip on their shoulder, and excelled when the competition got toughest (at least until Michael Bennett's last half season where he was a little twat and actively tanked). Best I could describe it is they played "angry" if that makes sense. I think that's why they like Jamal Adams and DK so much. They also got rid of Earl, Sherm and Bennett as soon as they became problems.... which was the worry about Carter.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 4:22 amEarl, Sherm, Marshawn, and Michael B weren't exactly like-minded were they?

Yeah my point was I didn't see a talent level that was worth the risk. Need to be elite to justify the risk to bring in a dumb ass and I didn't see it. I bet they didn't either.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 3:11 amapples and oranges. Jalen Carter is a top-tier talent. The question is whether he's a ticking time bomb of stupidity. If he has an All-Pro rookie season, then does something dumbass that gets him thrown out of the league year 2, while Witherspoon has a 10 year career of pretty good CB play, which would you prefer?D-train wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 9:07 pmYeah decent but nothing great outside of the TFL. I would give him a 6.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 8:48 pmDoesn't seem to be playing badly, see him getting double, even triple teamed
Witherspoon's turn in two days.
Not saying or predicting either or both will happen. That's just why Carter wasn't considered, even though he was clearly the guy we needed.
Pete wants to create a team of like-minded people, not a bunch of talented individuals. Carter is the most talented, but not Seahawk material (PC/JS Seahawks anyway).

Re: Metcalf, Seahawks admit subpar effort
Carter is in an ideal situation in Philly - a stacked team - so the situation is beneficial to all - but I would have preferred him over witherspoon 7 days a week - dline - both lines actually - are too important. Line play is the key to it all. Losing both tackes and the offense plummetting should make that pretty obvious. A great dline makes the secondary and LB rooms look better. I think we will regret not taking him. He addressed the greatest team need period and he can ball out. I understand the "why" we didn't take him, and it's a fair argument, but talentwise and needs wise we will probably regret it.D-train wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 12:06 pmYeah my point was I didn't see a talent level that was worth the risk. Yeah I can easily that side of it but looking forward to FINALLY see Witherspoon on a football field tomorrow. If he sucks twitter will explode but hoping for the best.

It's more than being in a stacked defense, he's among a number of his buddies from his Georgia team. It's like philly drafted the Georgia defense

He is in the right situation and also highly motivated because he fell in the draft. Hard to say what would have happened if he acted like the Jack Ass that he is and there was no retribution for it.

we might get to see 'Spoon, but injury report is official - Lucas on IR, Cross out, Morris out, Adams out, Mafe Questionable. This weekend might get ugly.

Re: Metcalf, Seahawks admit subpar effort
I am now almost hoping for everything to go wrong this year so we can get another high enough draft pick to get a decent DT.
But, if that happens they will probably use the pick on a QB that won't play in '24.
