No, and that is what I have been getting at for a few weeks now. This team feels a season or two early, so while there are hiccups from time to time, I really believe this is about as good as could be expected. I mean, we are a play here or there from being 15 and 0! Yes, there are also some games like Indy, AZ and LA that we could have lost, so the record is probably what it should be. But in no way shape or form did I think we'd be this good this season. I honestly didn't think they did either. I thought they were building with an eye down the road. That's why you sign Darnold to the contract they did, that's why they didn't throw crazy draft and salary capital at the interior O Line, that's why you draft Milroe.
At the start of the season, my fear was that this team, with a conservative offense, this O Line, what I felt was an inferior WR room outside of JSN ( and I thought he'd struggle with defenses focusing on him), no OC....you name it. I thought this team's floor might even be 7 wins, but the ceiling might have been 10. This is crazy. Another time when I am extremely pleased that I was wrong!
