On the other hand you could be the Rams and take a shot at it and then fall apart, or the 49ers and spend years putting a team together, you are correct, teams do that while the Hawks have consistency made the playoffs. There are any number of ways to go about it i guess. I don't have an issue with JS's approach as you do
My issue is in not learning from mistakes. Don't all of these lineman seem like guys we added five years ago? Do we know believe that Solari can just make something from nothing? I agreed with the Franchise QB. This team needs stars...and not only have we completely ignored that, we are flirting with not signing the one we had. Even if Clowney signs, you think this team is now better?

I can tell by the players they have gone after they have zero intention of changing anything. Which means this offense will suck ass unless we can line up every down in the pistol and run the same old predictable plays. Our backs will be banged up, because that is what running backs do, and everyone will make excuses because we had injuries. Anyone think a big part of this every year is the style of play? KC didn't care who their backs were, and heck, the 49ers are a running team and THEY didn't care who their backs were. Why is that? Because KC won due to a Franchise QB and the Niners used scheme and a FB and O Line.

IMO, this team is no better than it was in December, when it got boat raced by all three teams in our division and the Packers in the playoffs. And don't give me this shit about the 49er game being close. Yeah, it was, and we blew it because we couldn't get a play in with the clock running down on first and goal from the one!

Every excuse that everyone in here makes...no line, injuries, not enough talented targets, the defense is weak. How were any of these addressed? So, as some of us are pointing out, they are going to be corrected in the draft? I have heard so many of you in here tell me we can't make big changes in the draft because we draft too low. I guess that is changing this year? All this cap space everyone spews and we used it to re-sign Reed, who sucked last year in a contract year no less, a bunch of re-treads on the O Line and a TE who's other offer was by a television network! That isn't bitching, it is pointing out facts.

I think its a little early to be jumping to all that, there are still options left to the off season before needing to rely on the draft. Its alright not to have confidence in JS, I think generally he has done a pretty good job, how I look at it

Have you looked at what is left out there? Unless there is some trade, the best option available is the one many of us thought they would have signed by now. Maybe there are blockbuster trades left to be had, but there sure aren't a lot of game changers left in FA, and if there are, the ability to sign them and Clowney is probably pretty small.

there is Clowney and there is Everson Griffen, and I think its more one or the other than it being a pair

One pass rusher? One of those guys was on the team last year. I am not sure adding Bruce Irvin and one of those two you listed makes us a better pass rushing team that what we had last year. Which was bad.

Thar would definitely help along with Reed for a full camp and start of the season. Same with Clowney.

Those 3 are light years over what they had last year. Clowney and crap. Irvin and Psychopath should be able to capitalize on protection shifted to Clowney. I'm not willing to settle for Griffen. They need to do better. Trade for Ngakoue or Judon.

makes sense he could be waiting for the virus thing to subside
“The No. 1 pick of the 2014 draft remains the clear-cut top talent without an employer, ” Davis writes. “According to multiple reports, Clowney, 27, has not received the windfall proposal he’d hoped for … despite an environment where 49ers DL Arik Armstead got a five-year, $85 million deal and his former teammate, DeForest Buckner, reeled in a four-year, $84 million extension after getting traded to the Colts.”

Clowney could very well be considering whether or not to re-sign with Seattle but could also opt to wait things out until club facilities open back up and he’s able to travel safely for physicals and visits.

Until he and his camp make a decision, he’ll stay on top as the best free agent still available.

Issue with that is then he's at the mercy of what people have available and it won't be much. We're not going to wait forever and a week or so before the draft we'll trade to get Ngaouke thus closing the door on Clowney.

This is my nightmare scenario. Thought it was happening in San Francisco but they resigned Armstead. Getting too cute Hawks.

Hmmm, It looks like Clowney turned down a multi-year 17M offer from the Dolphins earlier.

The Dolphins went another way.

The reports for Seattle's offer are not consistent 13.5 to 18.5 Million per year.
