This doesn't sound good
Let's read between the lines here. If the Seahawks were interested in extending Brown once they get Adams' deal done, they could have told him that they'll take care of him next. The fact Brown is unhappy -- as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported -- seems to suggest he doesn't like what he has heard from the team about his chances of getting a new deal this year. Perhaps the Seahawks are wary of committing to Brown beyond 2021 given that he's about to turn 36, has dealt with knee issues and has had to have his workload in practice heavily managed. In that case, they might view him as being at a point in his career when they'd prefer to go year to year. The guess here is that they don't extend Brown this year and hope he's not so focused on getting a new deal that he's willing to miss games without one. If he is, things could get messy. The Seahawks wouldn't just have a standoff on their hands with their Pro Bowl left tackle -- they'd also have more issues with their previously disgruntled quarterback.

haven't we learned not to believe to much of these sportswriters' opinions about what players might be feeling? I'll worry when he starts missing games or demands a trade.

I would guess Brown wants a long term deal and the Seahawks don't want to commit for more than a couple. There's got to be a way to get it done. Adams needs to sign a deal now so we can all move forward.

I think that writer makes a point. All the Hawks have to do is tell him to wait, they will take care of him. If they are telling him that why would he be going public that he's unhappy?

Because they are prioritizing a petulant punk that has been with the team for one year over him?

He isn't going to be pissed at Adams for getting his money. I don't know, if it was about hanging tight until that was wrapped up, if they could tell him that, seems odd to me his going public about being pissed

He probably knows that it could take another month and doesn't appreciate waiting at the back of the line giving his tenure in the league AND on the team.

And he is going public about it? He knows it's a business, he has been around. That wouldn't be the way to treat a teammate. He goes to the press to tell Adams to hurry the fuck up? I don't know what the Hawks have in mind. But I agree with the writer, it doesn't seem very reassuring to Brown

Not saying what he should or shouldn't do just guessing that is what he is thinking. Get my deal done and then you can worry about Punky Brewster.

Sure, he could be unhappy that it's taking so long. Sit around the house bitch about it, but does he go public with it? Pete commented Brown was "making a statement". That's the statement, Adams needs to hurry up?

That makes sense to me

Brown has, one year left, correct? What is the team's motivation for extending a guy his age? Again, I understand we are in big trouble this year, but is that Brown's only leverage? He is banking on us extending a guy that will probably be done after this year, just because we don't have anyone else for this year?
Brown won't necessarily fall off a cliff. He was as good as ever last season and they should reward him with a raise for what he has done the past few seasons. I'm not saying they should give him a Shaun Alexander type deal. I would give him an extra couple mil this season and an incentive-laden extension without much guaranteed money.
I definitely don’t understand the exact ins and outs of contracts, but if Brown is looking for an extension, he isn’t going to just sign one that lets the Hawks cut him next year. That is my issue. I remember a couple of seasons ago Andrew Whitworth was the poster boy for why you can’t give up on older O Lineman. Seems he got an extension and now they want to replace him. I love Brown, and I hope this works out...it just doesn’t seem like a Seattle thing to do. For all the complaining about the FO, one thing that doesn’t happen often is for us to sign a guy that declines. Seems we get out early rather than late...no?
