where would Brian Branch play though? defensive backfield is pretty stacked. Same with the TEs. They'd have to be a decent upgrade to Parkinson to make a day 2 pick make sense.

Theoretically, you could trade Fant if you drafted a TE saving you over $6M in cap space. I'd be onboard with that. And if you took Branch, do you then cut Adams after June 1st? I mean isn't Branch a baller?!

They signed Brown to be the center didn't they? And they brought back Jarron Reed as a DT.

I like Jones too. It’s not that we have no D Line. We could use some depth, but not with first round picks. Again, unless you are sold on Carter, which I am not, who did we pass on that would have improved our interior D Line?

They could still bring back Poona Ford on a cheap 1-year deal. And if the Seahawks grab a TE at some point, could potentially trade Noah Fant. That would save over $6M in cap space.

And isn't that why Schneider signed Dre'mont Jones and Reed because he knew options would be slim at DL?

I was thinking a great strategy would be FA for need and draft BPQ and that seems to be exactly what they did with Wagner, Jones and Reed in FA and our to picks last night. So impressed with their course reversal.

Yes, Branch is a baller. I'd be totally on board with picking him but just don't see where he'd play. I don't like cutting/trading good players to make room for untested rookies, though. At least not when there are still positions in serious need of help. Give me the big men rounds 2 and 3!

I am too. This draft process feels like it's going, maybe not exactly the way that they envisioned it, bc John said he didn't really know what was going to happen, but it's been really good so far. I'm impressed with both of our picks.

I also trust PCJS, with whomever they go with right here. We'll see how much they like other positions. Do they go Ade Ade? John Michael Schmit, #1 Center on the board? TE? I think it's too early for a RB, but maybe one in the 3rd or 4th? Just take the best player on the board John!!

It sounded like John said he could get a NT to play just about anywhere in the draft during one of his pressers before the draft. He said, "if you can play NT in college, you can play it in the NFL." Does that mean he'll take one later? Ojomo, Jaquelin Roy?? That being said, there are still some really nice pieces on the board at DL. Benton or Pickens would be pretty frickin' sweet! I'm excited to see what they do. Brandon Mebane was a 3rd round pick, and he was a starter for quite a long time for us. I also really liked Jordan Hill who was also a 3rd round pick back in the day. Jaye Howard was a 4th. There's still time to grab one.

Looking at the Hawks depth chart they have 1 SS, 1 NT, 1 LDE and 1 Center in Joey Hunt on the roster. And they only have 2 RBs.

It is pretty cool to see our WR depth chart with JSN added.

Random scatterings

* Obviously there was something about Levis either the lengthy media process did not uncover, or the league felt pretty strongly that his 2022 was not good enough. Yes there is a degree of ‘once you get past the QB needy teams it can be a freefall’ but in a QB league, if you’re good enough someone will trade up and take you.

* The best player on the Seahawks’ board at CB and WR are tremendous value picks, despite no crying need. If there wasn’t a QB or a pass rusher they liked enough to take, the next value spots were obviously OT and they are set there. It just so happened that their top players in 2022 also matched crying need.

* On that note, ‘it could have been worse’ in regard to value…the Seahawks could have drafted a second RB and a middling LB in the first round. Feels like Detroit got stung by Witherspoon not being there at 6.

* It would appear that the Seahawks were also attracted to DW and JSN’s versatility and lack of development needed. Both can have a significant role on the team in Week One, and that marries to the 2022 class nicely and portends good to great things for 2024.

* The depth and versatility of the defense has been maximized quite a bit. Love can play nickel or either safety spot. DW and TW can play either side if they want to follow a certain WR. Bryant can continue at nickel or move outside. Tre Brown is Witherspoon Lite. All of these guys can free up Jamal Adams (if he’s on the team) to roam and cause problems for offenses. Karl Scott must be absolutely giddy. Can the coaching staff take advantage of it?

* No excuses for the Bobsey Twins this year. $36m cap and tons of depth and versatility around them. Ride or die 2023.

* I want DW’s attitude and nasty on special teams. Sherman, Browner, Baldwin, all those guys had major snaps on ST. Baldwin once blocked a punt, Sherman had that goofy ‘wrong guy’ punt return vs Chicago, and Browner once took out 3 cardinals on the same punt coverage play. More please.

* Spilled milk: Will Anderson-Stroud-Richardson were clearly the Seahawks’ top picks at 5, and I like to think that McDonald was at 20. I also think Sedrick Van Pran would have been a slam dunk at 20 if he had declared.

* No Will Anderson or McDonald possibly opens the door for a Nwosu extension. Also Boye Mafe needs to earn more playing time.

* According to my board there is depth at G and interior DL still available. I’ll reserve judgement until we get all the way through our draft. But some snarl at those spots is sorely needed. Also counting on Phil Haynes to play a whole season is a mistake.
