I am not super impressed with Santa Clara. Their defense is trash. Bears offense isn't any better than the Hawks and they hung 38 on them. Darnold's kryptonite seems to be pressure. Niner's are dead last in sacks with only 18 on the season and they are 30th in QB pressures. I see no reason why the Hawks shouldn't hang 30 on the Niners.

On the flip side of the ball The niners offense looked impressive last night but the Bears are 22nd in Yards allowed and 24th in points allowed. The Hawks defense is light years better than the bears. I see the Hawks winning this game 31-21 or something along those lines.
I just do not see Seattle holding SF to 21 - they are the hottest team in the league right now - they have outstanding coaching too - it's not about having a bunch of stars it is purely execution based. Watching seattle's offense bumble around - just not sure I see them hanging 31 - even on that depleted defense. Seattle offense needs it's defense to do all the lifting and spot them the ball inside the 40 or they are mostly inept lately. Seattle winning is not far fetched, but neither is the offense finally digging a hole they can't get out of and the house of cards crashes - that is what I have been waiting for. I don't know what to expect but watching Seattle's offense trending down hard while SF's is trending up hard - makes me very nervous. maybe losing on saturday could be a blessing in disguise as the team now has to go on the road and will not be a favorite. Maybe less pressure and more hunger will bring better results. Would be a crime to waste this defense's incredible season.
Having to win 3 road games vs. 2 home games doesn't not scream blessing in disguise to me.

They're hot because of who they have played. Purdy has been back for 6 weeks. During that time they have played 2 defenses ranked in the top half of the league and averaged 23 points per game against them. The other 4 games were against the 26th, 22nd, 24th and 28th ranked defenses and they averaged 42 points a game against those teams.

The Niners are also the 19th ranked defense in yards allowed. Unless the Rams allow more than 500 tonight, they will stay that way.
They are 25th against the pass, and again, will remain that way unless Cousins torches the Rams for over 450. They are a respectable 8th against the run, and will likely move ahead of the Rams after tonight.
But they're defensive numbers are far inferior to ours.

In their last three games they have given up 24 to the Colts. That was one week after we gave up 16 to to them.
They gave up 24 to the Titans and 38 to the Bears.

There are two sides to a football game, not to mention Special Teams.

We are second in the NFL in scoring offense, they are 8th.
We are second in the NFL in scoring defense, they are 13th.

Watching them play flag football with the Bears last night doesn't make me ready to simply hand them the Division!

By the way, the Bears are 22nd in scoring defense, and didn't even look that good last night. That was not even football. It was seven on seven. They aren't going to find that kind of success against us. We have split with the Rams, who are probably the best team in football. In those two games Darnold has thrown seven fucking INTs. I am not one to believe he won't continue to turn the ball over, but when you analyze our losses? It is really hard for me to simply say we can't beat anyone. And watching the Niners last night doesn't lead me to worry that they are going to kick our asses. Not one bit.

Odunze was out again for the bears last night and at least two of their receivers had the flu- Hawks D seems to get torched by any decent passing attack especially when they have a tight end like Kittle or CMC on the roster- Hoping the secondary can do better on Saturday- I don't know what to do with Kubiak and this offensive plan of attacked- Confuses the heck out of me- Can we please get Cross back for Saturday ? - Darnold just seems so fucking lost at times- Please figure it out- Thx :)

Torched by who? Stafford and Puka? Sure, I bet we are the only defense to have the #1 QB and #2 WR torch us right?

You have a point about the TE and WR. But this team has lost three games. In all three of those games? The opposing team had a WR lead them in Receiving yards. More than half the games this year the other team has had a RB or TE lead the team in Receiving....we've won every one of those games. Maybe this is a little by design?

Purdy threw for 277 and Pearsall had 108
Baker threw for 379 and Egbuka had 163
Stafford and Puka in OT went for 457 and 225

But let's look at some other games, and what the opposing teams best WR did.

DK had 20
Nico Collins had 27
Debo Samuel had 41
Marvin Harrison had 66 and then the next Cards game Michael Wilson had 34.
Dike for Tennessee had 44
Addison for the Vikings had 36
Drumond for Atlanta had 21
Pittman had 26
Coker this weekend had 16!
Olave is tearing up the league, had 57 against us.

We shut down opposing WRs, even the first Rams game Stafford had 130 and Nacua had 75.

I am usually one of the guys picking this team apart, but the amount of negativity in here is mind blowing. TORCHED? When? When Baker was playing at an MVP level, and it still took a late TO to beat us? When we decided the 49ers couldn't score on us so we curled up in a ball the entire second half on offense? Or maybe when arguably the best WR and QB duo in the NFL went off on us, and we still won in OT?

You watched this team play and think we better get shit figured out or the Niners are gonna whoop us?

Seattle is
#2 scoring offense and defense

8th in yards per game
8th in passing and 16th in rushing

5th in yards allowed per game, only 20 yards per game behind Houston
12th in passing and 3rd in rushing.

The 9ers are
13th in points allowed per game and 8th in points scored per game

7th in yards per game
4th in passing and 22nd in rushing per game

19th in yards allowed per game
25th in passing yards and 6th in rushing yards

I'd say those teams seem pretty even, with a slight edge to Seattle. But not if you ask people in here I guess! LOL

At the end of the day I think I am more worried about Darnold than opposing offenses- In other news damn that was serious home cooking by those REFs yesterday -

Shaheed was knocked out cold by a defender flinging him into the bench or something out of bounds. He will, IMO, for sure be out for the
9ers game as a result. Besides two facemasks and a horse collar against JSN, they also nearly mangled his knee on that stupid screen
attempt. I'm still amazed he wasn't seriously injured on that play after see the hyperextension on replay.

MM should take a blow torch to that play call to get it the hell out of the play book.

Watching Purdy and Williams extend plays just underscores Sam's limitations. Our mediocre O-Line just isn't designed for a pure pocket passer who appears to be a one read and done guy. Sam is an accurate passer given time but that's going to get scarier and scarier as we move on. As my friend likes to say, "Defense can be All World while Offense can border on All Toilet"
