I've always felt Penny doesn't handle contact well and goes down easy. It seemed like he was afraid of getting hurt. Hopefully he's past that but I wouldn't bet a dime on it.
Sure seemed past it the past few games! He has thrown some nasty stiff arms, didn't seem to stop his feet on contact, and looked pretty damn decisive in hitting and finding the hole, while not over committing. Some of the cut backs have been a thing of beauty. Not sure how AP made him all of a sudden have vision, but the dude has looked really damn good.

Just like a Seahawk draft pick, come into his own just in time to leave! :D  Of course, this has happened with guys like Sweezy and Irvin, and it isn't like they left and became Pro Bowlers.

Honestly? He was the best runningback in football for a months worth of games, but the last game was in January, so it wasn't all the month of December. Otherwise, I would think he would be a possibility for player of the month.

Guessing potential suitors in FA with notice the fact that all three of his big games have been vs. shit defenses and vs. good defenses he has been about a 10-12/30-40 guy. Maybe he will do it vs. good defenses as well with a better O line.

He'd actually probably be pretty damn effective with a good O-Line. He isn't a break-tackles or create extra yards guy, but when he has a big lane to run thru, he's got a good combination of size and speed.

If he signs a big contract, though, he'll for SURE get injured.

I am honestly dumbfounded how he can look completely incompetent for 3 years, then look so completely different the past few weeks.

Contract year? But, even at that, it took him until December of his contract year. He can't be trusted. If he wanted to give us a discount to stay? I could see it, but you can't count on this guy for much more than about 8 games a year.

I would welcome him back for something in this range:

Bob Condotta

... Recall James Conner signing for $1.75 million, and Leonard Fournette $3.25. Penny right now has the 8th highest salary of the RBs due to hit free agency this year. True, anything can happen, but the RB market is a lot different than cornerback and some others.
