I thought Hunt was called up last week because, with Evan Brown out, they didn't have a backup center. Pretty sure he'll be back on the practice squad shortly.

Well, it's hard to win in this league with a Rookie QB that isn't just one of those elite can't miss guys. I think the fact that we didn't draft one this year sets the stage for next year still being a Geno year. Otherwise? It's probably a step back year. As frustrating as Geno is, think back to watching Trevor Lawrence, even at the beginning of his second year? Watch Justin Fields now. Zach Wilson, Jordan Love, Kenny Pickett...all have QB Ratings of 80 or below. Mac Jones is 82.5, Bryce Young is 82.3. Desmond Ritter is 84 and just got benched. Geno frustrates the shit out of me, but we aren't 5 and 2 with any of those guys leading the show, IMO.

Yeah, the practice squad rules have changed greatly since COVID. Darryl Henderson was on the Practice Squad each of the past two weeks right up to game time and then started at RB for the Rams.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:12 pmI thought Hunt was called up last week because, with Evan Brown out, they didn't have a backup center. The aren't going to go with a rookie or even 2nd year QB that isn't ready. They will go with Geno or Lock until they find a guy they think that can take them to the playoffs.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:14 pmWell, it's hard to win in this league with a Rookie QB that isn't just one of those elite can't miss guys. I assume you meant SB. Geno already took them to the playoffs.

Saying they aren't going to tank a season to provide on the job training for a rookie QB.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:34 pmI assume you meant SB. Geno already took them to the playoffs.![]()

Re: Well, at least one of our teams does something at the trade dealine!
It was only a two year deal....so I'm not ready to just assume we pay Geno enough to keep him. There are a lot of bad QBs out there. Again, as maddening as Geno is? I am pretty sure the Giants would love to have him, and the Jets too. Vegas? Green Bay? Pitt, AZ, New England, Atlanta, Indy, New Orleans, Tampa, Washington and Chicago all have lesser QBs, in my opinion. Shit, Denver would probably trade us straight across and throw in a pick to swap QBs! The 49ers?
There is no reason to believe someone won't over pay for Geno. And as bad as he has been since about the mid point of last year? Lock has been given no shot to unseat him...so that has to tell us something about what we would be looking at with Drew Lock!

It doesn't have to be tanking, but do you see us winning with any of the QBs I named? They aren't all Rookies, and neither is Drew Lock. But I don't see us in first place in the division right now with about 15 or 16 other guys around the league that are starting right now. Sure, we can find a QB to place hold for a rookie, but do you see them at 5 and 2 right now with any of those other guys I named?D-train wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:43 pmSaying they aren't going to tank a season to provide on the job training for a rookie QB.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:34 pmI assume you meant SB. Geno seems pretty loyal. He took a team friendly deal this contract and I am sure he will do it again if they don't have a better option.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:45 pmIt was only a two year deal....so I'm not ready to just assume we pay Geno enough to keep him. They just gave up 230 yards passing to the Browns backup QB who's name I cant even remember. They have potential but there isn't anyone with any credibility who would put them in the top 10 at this point.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 12:21 amlmao "stat wise"? They spent the first month of the season down 3 CBs and an all-pro (when healthy) safety. If not for bullshit penalties, they'd also have 2 more INTs and a couple of sacks, plus probably several completions that wouldn't have even been because they would've been off the field.acctingman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 11:20 pmI don't think the secondary is sniffing the best in the NFL. From what I'm seeing, stat wise, they are middle of the road. They are good though and Witherspoon is amazing.SeattleAddict wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 9:42 pmone more note that adds value to this trade... if he signs elsewhere in the off-season, we should get a compensatory pick, probably a 4th rounder or better.
I'm stoked about this trade. Leonard Williams is a stud, and suddenly our defense is crazy deep. D. Jones, Reed, Edwards and Williams is a top-tier D-line, with Mafe having a Pro-Bowl caliber season, too? Pair that with BWags and Brooks and the best secondary in the NFL?
Damn.
Absolutely crazy the way they flipped the roster from pre-2022 season, where just about everybody had us as close to the worst team in the league.
I don't know what it is with people cherry-picking stats to evaluate what's going on. You have to look at the big picture and put those stats in context.
