hell, if we could get Geno for $12M/year it would be highway robbery. His market price will probably be about 3 times that.

That would be roughly the 16th highest paid QB in the NFL, the QB that is making that is Marcus Mariota, who hasn't done shit for 5 years. Every other starting QB making less than that is on a rookie deal and will soon get paid a lot more. You honestly think Geno will take 1/3 of what guys like Tannehill, Carr, Wentz and Cousins make, after a Pro Bowl year?? The man's never been paid a starting QB salary. He's going to get his while he can.

I mean, if the Seahawks pull that off and essentially free up $40 million in cap space to load up on free agents, I am all for it, but be realistic.

Yeah, I think JS is pretty good at valuing talent, like with Clowney. He will make an offer the player is free to shop, he doesn't get into bidding wars, he sticks to his numbers. I'll be curious to see what he comes up with

Yeah, that was a controversial one. There were a number of factors. How much they needed him, which might speak to their draft failures. How they used him which didn't seem inspired, and then the injuries. What gets lost I think was what a great player he was when they traded for him, and he was only 25

Interesting look at the contract

. It’s dangerous to dive too deep into on/off splits, especially on defense, but the rate at which the Seahawks were better when Adams was on the field was remarkable. With Adams on the field, the Seahawks allowed -0.01 EPA per play. With him off it, that averaged was 0.09, a difference of 0.1 EPA per play. The biggest shift was against the pass, where Seattle averaged 0.03 EPA per play allowed with Adams on the field and 0.17 EPA per play allowed with Adams off. There was also a significant swing in positive plays allowed. With Adams on the field, opposing offenses had positive EPA on 43% of plays. That shot up to 52% without him.

On Geno performance eroding

.Condotta: Smith by his own admission played his worst game Sunday — Pro Football Focus agreed, giving him his lowest grade of the year. And it could have been worse had Quentin Lake held on to the potential pick-six he dropped. But it’s worth noting again that injuries have depleted the receiving corps with Seattle on Sunday going with previously little-used Cade Johnson as its third receiver. Smith at times feels like he’s forcing it to DK Metcalf when Metcalf is heavily covered — both of his interceptions Sunday were on targets to Metcalf. But given the overall state of the receiving corps, it’s hard to blame him for wanting to get it to Metcalf as often as he can. Smith, though, may need to go back to reining it in just a little more — the 49ers were tied for the lead in the NFL this year in interceptions with 20.

Jude: Yes, Smith is being too aggressive at times, forcing things, trying too hard, etc. But if you want a positive spin, it’s not hard to find. Just look at that third-quarter touchdown pass to Tyler Lockett. It was perfect. Perfect touch. Perfect placement. Perfect timing. Smith, generally, has not been as good in the second half of the season as he was early on, but he’s still plenty capable — with his arms and his legs — and the Seahawks will obviously need him at his best Saturday in Santa Clara.

We will soon see how bullish they are on him and if they desire his style of QB play. That's all it takes to drive up cost.
